domenukk··on CPU hardware vulnerable to side-channel attacks
An attacker can still use the hardware wallet to transfer money as long as it's plugged in. To prevent this you need external hardware with a display and external input (that cannot be reflashed through usb (!)).
domenukk··on A Message to Our Customers about iPhone Batteries and Performance
There is a very fundamental problem to it, namely the lack of security patches. They really shouldn't browse the web anymore, then.
domenukk··on Living in a parking lot in Santa Barbara
Reminds me of the few months I lived in Santa Barbara, it took over two weeks to find an overpriced room, during that time we also slept in the car close to the beach... It's fun in the beginning then it gets really tough.
domenukk··on Open-sourcing MonkeyType – Let your Python code type-hint itself
Similarly, I'm amazed by Pycharm (IDE), which supports pretty good inferred type hints from debugging and static code anlysis, btw. Makes writing code a lot easier. Looking forward to trying MonkeyType, it seems awesome for lager projects.
domenukk··on Internet Chemotherapy
What about the script?
domenukk··on HP keylogger
Yet another one? There was already this one in the audio driver earlier this year... https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14314795 Makes you wonder who this is for.
domenukk··on About the security content of macOS High Sierra 10.13.2
That's a strange way to look at things. You could argue the computer doesn't come started by default so it's not a security risk... If there's an option to start it, it's a risk.
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
You have to install the cortana app and maybe get the insider preview version of windows 10,hoever I'm not sure about that
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
This works perfectly fine on Windows for both windows phone and Android. I can reply Android texts, whatsapps and even third party apps from a windows desktop.
domenukk··on VS Code Roadmap 2018
I'm using the IntelliJ bindings plugin together with the VIM bindings and get almost constantly the same bindings on all platforms that way...
domenukk··on Linux Marketshare on Desktops Apparently Hit 6.91% in September, Higher Than Mac
I've installed Linux on family member's computers before just to get calls when an update broke the graphics driver. Just try and let your wife install and update Arch herself, I'm sure she'd give up quickly. That being said, most users just need some icons and a web browser, almost any OS works for that.
domenukk··on Windows for Linux Nerds
Install hyper terminal, it is a lot more bearable than the ugly default console emulation on Windows.
domenukk··on Windows for Linux Nerds
Tablets are still a thing? Large phones and Laptops is what my bubble uses.
domenukk··on Windows for Linux Nerds
Looks have improved a fair amount. The normal user still wouldn't know how to install any software they know on it, however. And I'm not talking about an open-source alternative from apt.

Also, touch screens <3

domenukk··on Crack WPA/WPA2 Wi-Fi Routers with Aircrack-Ng and Hashcat
If you consider your random keyspace with 26 * 2 chars + 10 numbers + 20ish special chars then to crack 10 letters you'll have to try an average of ((26 * 2 + 10 + 20) ^ 10) / 2 = 6.8724016e+18 keys. If you then assume around 3 million hashes per second it still takes around 72641 days to crack your password.

Edit: As another comment said, just make sure it's not easy to guess based on rainbow tables and whatnot

domenukk··on Crack WPA/WPA2 Wi-Fi Routers with Aircrack-Ng and Hashcat
5 million hashes only take a few seconds for wpa2 anyway... Less than two for this system: https://gist.github.com/epixoip/a83d38f412b4737e99bbef804a27...
domenukk··on Surface Laptop is just a laptop
Surfing the web, zooming smoothly and consuming media is what it's for. Stackoverflow I guess
domenukk··on Surface Laptop is just a laptop
I just downgraded from a convertible to a more powerful non touch Windows 10 laptop and it sucks. Reaching the screen and nothing moves... The only OS I can stand without Touchscreen is Linux since I'm on the command line most of the time anyway
domenukk··on The End of IKVM.NET
I remember it was the only way to get Java running on the first surface RT with ARM Windows http://domenukk.blogspot.de/2013/05/microsoft-surface-runnin... Good times
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
There's an awful lot of settings in but actually, being on the preview version, you notice things move to the new settings app with every update. Also links to the control panel pop up in the settings app and the search finds the correct setting usually. They get better.
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
Everytime you upgrade you should check their webpage before, since they sometimes decide to move folders around or break things... Not really out of the way there. (I've been using it for months before I decided it was not for me. Or was it the other way round?)
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
Touch screens and pen support, use the same device for development, creating and for browsing in bed.
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
macOS Finder, for me, has always been one of the worst parts of of macOS btw. Try navigating to a different drive or to enter a path directly (without knowing the keyboard shortcut) or openeing a shell window at a location or doing anything useful... Explorer is so good at what it does. Maybe it's less pretty, form follows function?
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
And of course, Android (Cyanogenmod had it in 2010 or so)
domenukk··on Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up
I, strangely enough, sometimes run Windows in Tablet mode and use it as tiling window manager. Works surprisingly well. Try it sometime.
domenukk··on Opera Neon concept browser
Why do you need bookmarks, either you google it again or can access it through some kind of chat... Tabs are nice though
domenukk··on Lambdascript – A new pure functional language built on top of Python
I've used typehints to write a compiler but with my own small homegrown annotations and it worked really well. It feels natural coming from languages with similar syntax like rust and the like. Cool integrates well with pycharm too
domenukk··on Darpa Goes “Meta” with Machine Learning for Machine Learning (2016)
Dun dun dun
domenukk··on GNU Octave
Octave user under 30 here. I picked up a Matlab project recently (pattern recognition, electrical engineering etc. heavily use it in my university). Because I wanted to run it on Amazon and didn't want to deal with all the licensing issues I ported it to Octave instead. Works like a charm (using it in https://camfinger.com ) and it's actually free like any normal interpreter would be.

Personally I'm more used to other languages and would also tend to python, however I must admit Matlab/Octave is a pretty good way to develop matrix heavy stuff thanks to an extremely good REPL/debugger. That being said, Octave feels pretty slow for loops (lack of a proper jit), so I wouldn't know if I'd really use Octave over Matlab if it were not for licensing issues either. Then again I can rent a lot of cloud time for a Matlab license...

domenukk··on Microsoft Surface Studio
Most binaries run really well. A lot of the stuff that didn't work in the first preview has since been fixed (like tmux, 24bit colors in bash etc.). Plus you can now call linux apps from windows with bash -c and call exes from bash which makes cross platform development amazing.
