dogma1138··on Anthropic researcher believes more than 10% chance AI 'could kill all humans'
The chance that biomedical and viral research could also kill all humans is greater than 0%.

Should we stop doing that also?

dogma1138··on Fable 5.1 World Modeling
Because it’s a very complex task to do especially with any level of quality and consistency.

Classical algorithmic approaches for data to CAD are quite unreliable heck commercial CAD software still struggles turning scanned 2D plans into sketches with any degree of reliability.

Something of this scale would normally require 1000’s and 1000’s of man hours in manual modeling, placement and quality control.

Some of the latest prompt to CAD agents and models I’ve seen are the most impressive use of AI I’ve seen in a long time.

At least for me this is rather exiting since it gives me the ability to turn many more ideas into reality as a hobbyist rather than spending the entire weekend in Fusion 360.

dogma1138··on AI, ex-Soviet engineers, and the Holy Grail of rocketry
If their satellite is 100% ITAR free which is highly unlikely, possibly.

And even then the US government can always find a reason with which to prevent them from doing so.

dogma1138··on MicroGPT-C in pure C hits 10M TPS on Apple M5
Is it? What is the cut off these days in terms of number of parameters? And where do other language models such as BERT/ROBERTA which are encoder only fit?
dogma1138··on Don't ask an LLM for a confidence score
Yes that is correct but it’s still better than nothing, there are some assumptions to be made such as that the model was not trained on junk data.
dogma1138··on Don't ask an LLM for a confidence score
You don’t ask an LLM, but certain LLMs expose internal metrics you can tell how many token candidates where there what was the score which one and which one was selected.

So there are objective ways to control hallucinations as well as figuring out how “correct” the answer is to some extent.

dogma1138··on PCI DSS DMARC Requirement: What Section 5.4.1 Requires
There are cases for card not present transactions, fraud and complex refunds but generally yes.
dogma1138··on Helium escaping from atmosphere of nearby rocky exoplanet in a habitable zone
You still need to get to escape velocity that doesn’t change the delta v required does but not by that much you are looking at 5-10%. Maybe a bit more if the atmosphere is really really thick.

Unless you skip chemical rockets altogether there is a pretty hard cap on how much bigger a planet can be than earth before a space capable civilization becomes almost impossible.

dogma1138··on BMW iX5 Blows Away the Competition with 460-KW Charging, 435-Mile Range
Beaver teeth
dogma1138··on OpenRA
AI in strategy games always cheats I haven’t seen a single game where the AI wasn’t built around cheating. Once you figure out how it cheats it’s usually a combination of resource multipliers, build time multipliers and not having a fog of war it becomes much essier to beat at any difficulty.
dogma1138··on Amazon Cognito now supports multi-Region replication
Cognito isn’t a high level product not anymore than any of those you’ve mentioned it’s a CIAM solution.
dogma1138··on Microsoft builds MacBook Pro rival with NVIDIA-powered Surface Laptop Ultra
I’m pretty sure 400 gig nics aren’t in the cards for these thin and lights…
dogma1138··on MacBook Pro Rival with the Nvidia Powered Surface Laptop Ultra
It might be more of a Linux problem than a chip problem…
dogma1138··on Pokélike
Lawyerdo uses Cease and Desist: - It’s super effective
dogma1138··on Apple is enforcing an old App Store rule against a new kind of software
The argument is silly, dev tools that allow you to run code were never allowed. There is no selective enforcement here and nothing has changed doesn’t matter if the code was written by a human or not.
dogma1138··on Credit cards are vulnerable to brute force attacks
Amex was late to the party with virtual cards.
dogma1138··on Apple accidentally left Claude.md files Apple Support app
The what is in the screenshots….
dogma1138··on Mistral built a $14B AI empire by not being American
Do you think the US board of Amazon will go to jail to protect their EU subsidiary?
dogma1138··on Replace IBM Quantum back end with /dev/urandom
Just to point it out this isn’t a jab at QC but rather a jab at project 11 and possibly the submission author, basically they failed to validate the submission properly and the code proves that the solution is classical.

Recovering a 17bit ecc key isn’t a challenge for current classical computers via brute force.

dogma1138··on HBO Obtains DMCA Subpoena to Unmask 'Euphoria' Spoiler Account on X
No there is a feed, if you follow a topic such as a show you probably will get exposed to it.
dogma1138··on Peers vote to ban pornography depicting sex acts between stepfamily members
Well at least porn and between first cousins is still legal…
dogma1138··on Peers vote to ban pornography depicting sex acts between stepfamily members
Help me step bro I’m stuck in 1984.
dogma1138··on NY Times publishes headline claiming the "A" in "NATO" stands for "American"
Well based on how things are going it might soon be just that.
dogma1138··on IBM Announces Strategic Collaboration with Arm
Mainframes and consulting.
dogma1138··on GitHub's Historic Uptime
It depends, for example - I would consider Google Drive uptime as part of say Google Docs’ overall uptime because if I can’t access my stored documents or save a document I’ve been working on for the past 3 hours because Drive is down I would be very pissed and wouldn’t care if it’s Drive or Docs that is the problem underneath I still can’t use Google Docs as a service at that point.
dogma1138··on OnlyFans owner Leonid Radvinsky dies of cancer at 43
If you want to launder money you don’t usually do it with credit cards.
dogma1138··on Project Nomad – Knowledge That Never Goes Offline
You’ll be hanged from a construction crane if they’ll catch you with this project in Iran… :)
dogma1138··on Project Nomad – Knowledge That Never Goes Offline
If current frontier online LLMs are made inaccessible due to a local or global cataclysmic event running models locally will be the least of your concerns.

This isn’t prepping for anything it’s cosplaying as a vault dweller.

P.S. Having TED talks as part of the “educational” curriculum of this project is probably the biggest circle jerk imaginable.

They also are eating stars apparently.
dogma1138··on Israel is running critically low on interceptors, US officials say
They had to power to hurt Israel, but after 2 large scale attacks Israel decided to take it away from them.
