Sounds like a fun project! :)

Thanks! Interesting, they seem to be actually delivering the product too soon!
dmundhra··on How to hire engineering talent without the BS
Nice article talking about the common pitfalls popularized by likes of Google and Palantir a decade or so ago. Some of these methods work if you are hiring enmasse and are ok to tradeoff identifying some outliers (like in homebrew creator's example) to efficiency. This is one of the reasons I built nitrohire.co to be able to get more relevant information about a candidate in a different way! The basic question is why try to guess something about a candidate that their peers might already know and help you make more informed decisions
dmundhra··on Ask HN: Those making $500+/month on side projects in 2023 – Show and tell
Last year recruitment was a pain. This year, it's slightly better, still the process hasn't changed much. After spending an inordinate amount of time interviewing, I brainstormed and launched nitrohire.co last month after a few months of alpha usage. Nitrohire helps hiring managers get quick and useful information about candidates without any effort.

Currently doing on and off in the vicinity of a grand a month.

dmundhra··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2022 – Show and tell
I built nitrohire.co, a reference checking tool for hiring managers and also did a Show HN recently [1].

The revenues are a few $100s currently though I have not been doing a lot of marketing for it yet since the beta launch resulted in a lot of feedback that I am trying to evaluate and address.

Also, if someone is interested in hiring/recruitment/professional networking space, would love to connect! Email in profile

dmundhra··on Show HN: NitroHire – Fast and Easy Insights on Candidates
Hi HN Community!

I am Devang, creator of NitroHire. It's still rough at the edges, yet I am very excited to share this on Show HN!

Many of us have been through the experience of either sitting through interviews or taking interviews, and very quickly the interview process becomes a really big chore of asking the same canned questions, and hearing or giving the same canned responses most of the times.

Having sat through taking hundreds of interviews in the past decade or so, every now and then I would ask that there is got to be a better way to do this. I was bored to death taking skills tests, or asking DS-Algo, product, design questions, and trying to glean insights and read between the lines. And I could see with the candidates also having interviewing multiple places at the same time that they were equally jaded yet had to feign a lot of interest and enthusiasm.

So I thought there should be a better way to tackle this, and one of the thoughts was to get first hand information about these aspects of a candidate from people who already know the candidates, rather than to try to intuit about the candidates. This is how the draft of NitroHire started, to help get this information to a hiring manager fast, so that the subsequent interviews can be shorter, more interesting and fun because of the additional context.

The first version of NitroHire supports getting reference check very quickly with predefined questions templates for almost all roles in product and development teams (build your own questionnaire from templates feature coming soon), takes less than a minute for hiring managers and candidates, and gives a very detailed and info rich report to the hiring manager.

I would love for you to try our NitroHire and also learn from your experiences and feedback on how we can make interviews suck less and make hiring decisions faster!

dmundhra··on Ask HN: Co-Founder? Seeking Co-Founder?
SEEKING CO-FOUNDER | Hiring and Talent Assessment | Worldwide | Pre-Seed

Looking for a co-founder to try and build different ways to interview and assess candidates. There is an MVP currently that I have developed which has helped garner good feedback. Now it's time to get these users and multiple other perspectives to get to the actual product.

dmundhra··on Ask HN: Which software do you use for your presentations?
Prezi.com - have used it every now and then and quite like it
dmundhra··on Show HN: Place to support and validate early startup ideas
I tried submitting an idea. The permalink is being set to 127.0.0.1
dmundhra··on How do you do knowledge transfer in tech teams?
KB-with-built-in-knowledge-certification is interesting, but who builds the KB?
dmundhra··on Launch HN: AccessOwl (YC S22) – Automating SaaS Provisioning and Permissioning
Congratulations on the launch. This is great - I had started to feel the pinch of provisioning de-provisioning 2-3 years ago and wrote scripts for ~10 SaaS applications. Worked great until we started to get more and more SaaS apps and there was a day when I spent more time writing script for the tool rather than for the actual product of our company. Ditched the tool the next day.

Was planning to open source the tool but didn't really get the time then - great to see you guys solving it well! Congratulations!!

dmundhra··on Launch HN: Windmill (YC S22) – Turn scripts into internal apps and workflows
This is great. I have been trying out pipedream and would love to try this too. Are there steps available to do a self deploy? Also, can the URL be rendered on my own domain?
dmundhra··on Show HN: Pipedream 2.0 – AWS Lambda + Zapier alternative
Getting 404 on this page - https://pipedream.com/code/python/
dmundhra··on Launch HN: Explo (YC W20) – Customer-facing dashboards and reports
This is interesting. We are currently evaluating Superset to provide dashboards to our customers, which is very feature rich and open source. Why would we want to go for Explo in lieu of Superset?
dmundhra··on Ask HN: What no-code tools are you using?
Zapier and Retool
dmundhra··on Ask HN: Simple utility to schedule webhooks with at specific time and url
Looks like Scheduler is best fit (and price reasonable only for fixed time jobs. However it gave a reference to this - https://cloud.google.com/tasks - which seems to fit the bill. Will try it out - thanks!
dmundhra··on Ask HN: Free/low cost APIs to get data about US stocks and options?
*end of day data is also ok. It's more for making a screening application
dmundhra··on WhatsApp now requires biometric authentication for PC and web access
Does this matrix.org bridges?
dmundhra··on QA job interview questions for managers to ask
I am a developer who happen to also have to manage a QA team and found this article interesting to atleast ask some questions to get the interview warmed up. Otherwise I always struggled to find good questions to ask for a QA interview. Am sure if I had googled I might have found something- but I never did. This coming on the HN feed just removed that friction too for me to read!
dmundhra··on Ask HN: Application with on Cloud but with On-Prem Requirement
How do you leverage some of the other things like serverless, SQS, etc..? From what I could see, it was based on Kubernetes but that still expects us to manage all the products on our own? Eg replace sns with Kafka and SQS with rabbitmq?
dmundhra··on Launch HN: Release (YC W20) – Staging environments made easy
Do you handle setting up cloud specific environment like SNS, SQS, Lambda, etc.. and initiating it with seed data needed to create a complete environment for testing?
dmundhra··on Prefect Cloud
After reading the landing page copy I am still not sure of the use case. Is it like AWS Simple Workflows which allows to create dynamic workflows for any kind of user, or is it more dev or devops specific?
dmundhra··on Ask HN: Does anyone use monday.com? Is it better than the others?
Coincidentally just posted a blog about these tools - “5 Great Tools That Didn’t Work Out — Software Project Management” https://medium.com/kredx-engineering/5-great-tools-that-didn...
dmundhra··on Launch HN: Dataform (YC W18) – Build Reliable SQL Data Pipelines as a Team
Does it work cross databases? Ie, if data is stored in multiple databases and needs to be combined for analytics? Currently, we are getting all data to S3 via DMS and running a script on top of this to combine data
dmundhra··on Ask HN: What is your best advice for a junior software developer?
Have the mentality that what you are going to code will be used for at least 5 years, that helps in improving coding patterns, tests, corner cases, etc..
