dlmiller··on CT scan shows there's still lots of toner left in an “empty” cartridge
Developer loses its charge over time. You have to replace it.

Every laser copier/printer still uses developer. If you can show me a model of laser printer that does not, I'm all ears.

There is also a transfer roller in each copier, maybe that's what you're talking about?

I could be mistaken, but as recently as 2020, every commercial copier I worked on, still uses developer. I have never worked on, or heard of a laser copier without developer.

That's not necessarily toner left in the cartridge. It could be developer. Laser printers have 2 separate forms of powder inside of them. One being toner, and the other being developer.

The developer has fine metal particulates inside that "charge" the toner, enabling the toner to be pulled off of the drum, and onto the page.

Larger copiers have the Developer, and toner separate. However, the cartridge pictured is the full process unit.

dlmiller··on Auto giants like BMW, GM and Toyota make drivers ‘subscribe’ for basic features
I wish that was an option for me. I bought it "used" with 1100 miles, last year.

That may have been an option, but I wasn't made aware of it. I had to sweet talk the Subaru support to get the free 3 years.

I was also under the impression it had remote start, which it does via the app, but not via the key fob without the remote module installed.

dlmiller··on Auto giants like BMW, GM and Toyota make drivers ‘subscribe’ for basic features
I have a 2021 Subaru that can only remote start via the App that requires a subscription to their "STARLINK Safety and Security" service. It comes with 3 free years, however its $99 a year after that.

Not as egregious as other companies as I can get a factory remote starter installed. It appears that dealers deliberately order vehicles without the remote starter in order to push subscriptions.

dlmiller··on Used car market gets even more bizarre
$7,000 to put a new engine in a 2011 GMC Terrain that was worth maybe $8000. The engine was recalled by GM for excess oil consumption, my engine had the fixed installed and still died 30k miles later.

I went with a new one because that particular vehicle ended up costing me more monthly than a car payment.

dlmiller··on Used car market gets even more bizarre
My car died, needing a new engine, so I was forced to get one in October. I usually only buy used, but prices are so inflated it didn't seem worth the premium. Used 2017-2020 Toyota Rav4's with 30-60k miles were the same price as a new 2021 model, if you could get one.

I knew it was bad, but I was shocked of how bad it was. I went to multiple mega dealerships with 500-1000 cars that were all spoken for. Most had 0 new cars available.

dlmiller··on Tesla made $1.6 billion in Q3, is switching to LFP batteries globally
Conventional Lead Acid or AGM batteries get somewhere around 500-700 cycles before the battery is bad.

With Lithium iron phosphate batteries the charge cycles are in the 5000-9000 cycle range.

TLDR: They can be discharged significantly more times than conventional lead acid batteries.
