dkroy··on Pebble's next step
Is there an alternative out there right now with comparable battery life and features? It looks like I won't be receiving my next pebble so I am looking for something similar.
dkroy··on Air India Taking Advantage of Tailwinds
Haha, sorry this is going over my head. What is the significance of Goose Bay in this conversation?
dkroy··on Nothing but radio silence from DigitalOcean while 38k sites remain down
Forwarded this via slack to a friend that works there though I am sure they are already working on this issue.
dkroy··on Show HN: A Quick Demo of Apache Beam with Docker
The beam devs should make an Avro sink next for the python sdk. We are using the dataflow Java api and I hate using Java. You have a pretty slick product so far. Thanks for building it!
dkroy··on Show HN: Dockerweb, connect a web-page to a Docker container
This is actually pretty impressive, and is one of those why didn't I think of this products. Good work!
dkroy··on Ask HN: What are you working on and why is it awesome? Please include URL
Omg, this has me so jealous. I am working on something very similar as a side-project. Good Luck!
dkroy··on Eve: My Concerns
Not going to lie I thought this was going to be about the Eve Online VR release when I opened it.
dkroy··on Show HN: Jukedeck – create unique, royalty-free music for your videos using A.I.
No need to search soundcloud or google for background music for your youtube vlog or intros. It's kind of nice that you can even slice to size right off of the bat. This does seem like a time saver for that market. Either way cool idea!
dkroy··on Show HN: Paypyrus – Electronic money in physical form with Venmo
This is a hell of an idea. Haha, Damn you this has triggered my entrepreneurial ADD, it makes me want to build something around it! Venmo should not ignore this. They could really build upon this, and get some vendor lock-in if it gains popularity among their already loyal users.
dkroy··on The Narco-terror Trap
I highly suggest that if you have the time to read about Portugual, and their results 14 years later after decriminalizing all drugs. It is what I would call a great success story, and it is a case study that I rarely see get brought up. There are two things that really get my blood boiling, the first one sadly works as intended, and the second one usually doesn't. The first one is fear mongering, and which usually perpetuates the second one is prohibition.
dkroy··on Drone nearly collides with helicopter, operator gets caught
As an additional note the news outlets did this with laser pointers when those started becoming popular, and how many aircraft did those also take down? I am going to guess the same amount, which I am assuming to be zero, unless someone else here tells me differently.
dkroy··on Drone nearly collides with helicopter, operator gets caught
I hate how they are constructing news stories like this by dropping in the word drone, and adding a little fear mongering to stir up us "common folk". It may not be useful news, but it sure must get the eyeballs...
dkroy··on Show HN: Six Degrees of Venmo – Visualizing your payment network
It looks like the default setting is public.
dkroy··on Show HN: Six Degrees of Venmo – Visualizing your payment network
You can have a private, public among friends or completely public transaction if you choose. The ones you can see in this are only the ones that the person who initiated the transaction has choose to share publicly with the world.
dkroy··on Show HN: Six Degrees of Venmo – Visualizing your payment network
This is some really nice eye candy. I saw that you did your web scraper in haskell even though you seem to be quite the polygot. What guided that decision?
dkroy··on Petabyte-Scale Data Pipelines with Docker, Luigi and Elastic Spot Instances
What are you using for scheduling your jobs?
dkroy··on Show HN: The platform used for the TechCrunch interview with Sam Altman
Really cool, and I thought Reply All was just a podcast. If I am understanding this platform correctly this allows each person involved in the conversation to send email responses, and replyall publishes the conversation in an embeddable widget. I haven't used it before so I could be way off.
dkroy··on The Musk Who Wants to Change The Way We Eat
Thanks! I skimmed the article, but wasn't sure if I was missing something.
dkroy··on Ask HN: When do you know your startup has failed?
I am also curious. I have my email in my profile if you have a moment.
dkroy··on [dead]
Looks like a shill account. It was created only minutes ago.
dkroy··on Nevada marijuana legalization gets official OK for 2016 ballot
Portugal comes to mind for me, but I am not sure what he means by a majority of developed countries.
dkroy··on Whitehouse Website Let Their SSL Certificate Expire
You are right I misread February 2nd, 2016. I am not seeing the hostname mismatch though.
dkroy··on HealthCare.gov Sends Personal Data to Dozens of Tracking Websites
I heard something awhile back about the us government(NSA) leveraging the cookie in a way that they could use it as a surveillance beacon. I doubt there is any relation, but it makes you think a bit.

dkroy··on Parrot Bebop
If you do your homework or even a little googling you will realize that what you are saying isn't true. Hopefully this is good news for you! I think the link below may have even been submitted to HN, though I haven't checked.

dkroy··on World War II in the Pacific, narrated by my grandpa
I have always wanted to record an interview my grandpa on his military experience, and I did. I was not smart and didn't record the interview. I may interview him again, but just record the whole interview if he is willing to again... I am also a fellow Minnesotan, not sure why, but I felt a little pride there.
dkroy··on Octotree: the missing GitHub tree view (Chrome extension)
You would just have to switch out https://api.github.com/ with https://{Your company's Github Enterprise location}/api/v3/
dkroy··on Dropbox acquires Hackpad (YC W12)
Those ideas tempted me to stop what I was working on and try one of those ideas though, it was a great set of ideas.
dkroy··on C5: A simple, reliable, scalable, open-source database
Yeah, I was really interested in messing around with it, but was being lazy and would have rather just entered my credit card instead of having to call or email.
dkroy··on Dropbox acquires Hackpad (YC W12)
This all could be accomplished with their api and your own web-server. The coding would be the hardest part though from an effort standpoint.
dkroy··on C5: A simple, reliable, scalable, open-source database
Can I sign up without having to call or email?
