djs070··on Ableton Live Redesign
reddit.com/r/ableton springs to mind, or any other user forum
djs070··on Semantic UI
Gosh that irritates me - does that mean that the "tap just above the clock to return to top" doesn't work?

Edit: just checked, and yes it does. Also breaks the pattern where iOS shrinks the address bar and navigation bar when you scroll down. Completely unacceptable for a UI library to break these OS-level patterns

djs070··on Apple admits the Mac Pro was a mess
The linked Daring Fireball article[1] is a lot more interesting and informative

djs070··on Spotify acquires audio detection startup Sonalytic
I don't understand - what does/did it do?
djs070··on Wearable Fitness Devices Don’t Seem to Make You More Fit
> "...the primary reason to wear the devices isn’t to lose weight — it’s to be more active. But even in this respect, it didn’t work nearly as well as we might hope. In the IDEA trial, those who employed the technology were no more physically active than those who didn’t. They also weren’t more fit."
djs070··on Ask HN: What's it like to build Saas business?
Hi Patrick. Thanks for the ongoing great info you provide. Do you have any thoughts on how a desktop/native deployment impacts these timeframes or figures?
djs070··on Chrome 56 will mark HTTP pages with password fields as non-secure
IIRC, type=password also prevents copying saved input to clipboard
djs070··on Rethinking email confirmation
I don't necessarily agree with the article but your proposition does not solve the scenario described, where the owner of the email address gets the emails and clicks confirm out of curiousity or habit
djs070··on How to Build the Future with Sam Altman
"Disagree" here is not about disagreeing with the content of the linked media, but whether you consider sama adequately credentialed or experienced to speak on the topic.
djs070··on React Game Kit
I would think that maintaining a "world state" data structure and then dynamically generating the render tree based on the contents of the world state would be a much better logical fit for using React.
djs070··on Show HN: Golang statistics package with 100% code coverage
Nicely done.

Is returning error common in go (as opposed to raising)?

djs070··on Show HN: GitHub-based DNS Hosting
That is much more useful to me than the OP service. Thanks.
djs070··on Sexist culture and harassment drives GitHub's first female developer to quit
From what I read on the incident, "volunteered" is not at all what happened.
djs070··on 80s Typography in CSS
Crashed chrome on iOS7
djs070··on The average top 1,000 web page has grown 150% in three years
Genuinely interested - what information?
djs070··on Dropbox Could Be A Bargain At An $8 Billion Valuation
Why would AWS sink what I presume is one of their biggest customers? This is analogous to claiming that any distributor could go under if their supplier refused to continue to supply them.
djs070··on Wysiwtfftwomg
I'm yet to find the right way to have clients "buy in" to the concept of limited wysiwig functionality, as it can be hard to explain what they're gaining in return without long-ish term exposure to the underlying technologies. Maybe an open-source document would be handy to help us get the key points across to "content peoeple"?
djs070··on Ask HN: Making a living selling software components, not SaaS?
Can I ask what the JavaScript component is/does?
djs070··on Farewell from Framebase.io
Ah no. Sad news, looked like a good service.

What other services are playing in this space?

djs070··on Refactoring GitHub's Design
Is it just because I'm on iOS or have some of these suggestions been implemented on github?
djs070··on Is Facebook “broken on purpose” to sell promoted posts?
I didn't so much "leave" as I just stopped going.
djs070··on Where the fuck is my Ari Gold?
A programmer's skill in programming is unrelated to their ability to communicate said skill. So the programmer may or may end up better off paying an agent >=14% of their salary to try and increase their net income.
djs070··on Where the fuck is my Ari Gold?
"if you’ve got 5 years of experience with C++, you are the same as anyone else who has five years of experience with C++"

I would agree that your "5 years" is equally as meaningless as anyone else's generic 5 years. On the other hand, I would like to think that a quick look at your GitHub profile could make a huge distinction between you and another programmer.
