They have a big head start, but other car companies are now investing much more in battery tech etc and will quickly catch up. Not to mention Tesla's have terrible build quality, they have a lot of shady business practices like overcounting sales, reusing sold parts etc which came out in the recent leak.
Thing like the 4860 battery which were so hyped turn out to be not that much better. FSD is years away. Stop selling vaporware.
What they need to focus on is things they innovated on like OTA updates, integrated systems, no dealerships etc.
By that I mean any scripts included in these projects. I have seen only a few scripts though.
In the end I realized a well configured toolkit is enough for 99.99% of people, and there are an endless number of those as well. I use zsh-quickstart-kit which is updated often and has good speed and amazing features. You get all the fish features AFAIK and more with no risk of scripts breaking and it was a 1min install.
For non devs who don't need to script I'd recommend fish and there are distros that default to it now.
The fact that Apple basically threw out all his 'innovations' for the new Macs speaks volumes.
One of the most over rated, over hyped and of course over paid tech person ever.
I like JS as a language and the enormous progress thats been made in the JS ecosystem from the wild west days back then. But I have to say my most productive and enjoyable dev experience was with VS, C#, ReSharper etc.
Magical intellisense and real refactoring across millions of LOCs and multiple assemblies, all kinds of tools, visual designers, powerful 3rd party toolkits (anyone remember Infragistics), amazing docs. And of course now it'd be much better I'm sure.
Thinkpads are notoriously well made. 'shitty plastic' is ultra durable. Macs are great if you are ok being locked into the Apple ecosystem
Screw the people who still spread MS FUD. I cannot think of any other company, certainly not FB/Goog (Amzn has nothing in this space and no interest outside paid AWS services) that would've done anything close to what MS have done.
Everything is better, tons of things are now free, integration has improved, there's full transparency. It helps that MS's own tools like VSCode, VS online etc are best in class by some margin and used by everyone.
Stop conflating the issue with backups, the 2 have nothing to do with each other. Even if you take regular backups you can and will lose critical data when any $5 part on your $3-4k machine goes bad.
Amazing how far people will go to defend Apple.
Its a ridiculous decision by Apple made purely for profit
Not security. There is no additional security here

shouldn't it be the other way around with the integrated chips, thinner screen etc etc?
Is there any mirror? I'd rather not put more strain on his server. And are there archives of other mags like Dr.Dobbs?
They are a bully and can act this way because Epic to them is meaningless. Theres only a handful of companies who can actually threaten Apple with their same medicine at this point, and unfortunately this means consumers suffer.
With WSL you can keep all data in NTFS, have near native speeds but you can't run a bunch of Linux cmdline tools.
I don't know if they can solve it, its basically sending data across the network, But this is the last barrier to a great Linux on Windows.
Anyone can leann k8s basic principles in a day or 2. And managing a cluster is arguably easier than managing a typical bunch of EX2 instances+ALB etc that almost everyone uses.
k8s also has the advantage of ubiquity. If I had to manage a bunch of containers on a cluster with > 10 nodes, I'd pick k8s over swarm/nomad etc.
Your argument is 'k8s isn't a good choice for anyone except Google-scale' and I don't think thats true at all.
- deploying k8s on bare metal is not easy. It was never really designed for this and to be fair Google has a vested interest in making you use GCP. EKS is nothing more than cobbled together scripts and you still need to do a lot of manual work
- k8s introduces a ton of terminology and new concepts (pods/service/deployment/ingress) not to mention the whole host of addons built on top like Istio.
It shouldn't take any decent dev more than a couple days to install minikube/k3s or use a cloud provider, play around and get comfortable with k8s.
I'm guessing if you put all this data into Kinesis or message queues it would end up costing quite a bit more.
