And CS folks should design hardwares because they understand concurrency better?!
These people are terrible at their job, perhaps a bit malicious too. They may be great people as friends and colleagues.
But that's nothing compared to this man. I usually avoid his news but seeing him grabbing fifa peace price wasn't a good sight.
Want a dashboard from an API with openapi docs or from SQL database with known schema, or want a quick interactive GUI that highlights something in `perf stat` data, unleash claude.
I have 10y of experience working at startups and academic labs. Especially looking for working on endpoint security products, numerical simulator or algorithms or building system level components (Rust/C++).
My experience growing up in India is that we are extremely tolerant of corruption and self aggrandisement. In fact, people speak of envy and admiration of folks working in govt who even takes bribes even to issue death and birth certificate.
The corruption of the profession of teachers and doctors is something I've witnessed myself. In just the last 20 years, no one in my village shows any respect for both of them. Things were very different when I was a kid.
Personally I do believe that ours is a very cynical, low trust and 'corrupt' society. Though southern India is much better than North (especially the Ganges planes).
Imagine if we had a similar process for websites! Thanks Let's Encrypt.
Submit a zkp that you are over 18 to the website that requires it. The proof need not be tied to the identity of the user.
I personally don't think self-regulation works. It's harmful so the next best option is the government regulating it.
Ph.D. in neuroscience here. Programmer by trade. This is not true. Less you know about most peer revies is better.
The better peer reviews are also not this 'thorough' and no one expects reviewers to read or even check references. Unless they are citing something they are familiar with and you are using it wrong then they will likely complain. Or they find some unknown citations very relevant to their work, they will read.
I don't have a great analogy to draw here. peer review is usually a thankless and unpaid work so there is unlikely to be any motivation for fraud detection unless it somehow affects your work.
There is a finite size program that can generate infinite digits of pi (in infinite time). Kolmogorov's complexity of pi is finite even when the object is infinite.
It's not very surprising that it takes a few GB of a program to encode conscious 'us'. Humbling to think about it though...
Original paper is behind a paywall and this article has no details
The abstract says
> Conditioned responses in this new magnetic map assay were unaffected by radiofrequency oscillating magnetic fields, a treatment expected to disrupt radical-pair-based chemical magnetoreception4,5,6, suggesting that the magnetic map sense of the turtle does not rely on this mechanism. By contrast, orientation behaviour that required use of the magnetic compass was disrupted by radiofrequency oscillating magnetic fields. The findings provide evidence that two different mechanisms of magnetoreception underlie the magnetic map and magnetic compass in sea turtles.
Perhaps it can be easily integrated into self-hosted gitlab to manage artifacts?
Earth had a plastic like problem before. There were no fungi that eat cellulose so dead trees were just piling up without degrading. Those trees turned into ~petroleum~ coal that we consume now.
That trees somehow turned into ~petroleum~ coal, I learnt in school. I used to imagine trees were somehow buried under stand suddenly and before they could be degraded they turned into ~petroleum~ coal under heavy pressure.
Apparently Dijesktra loved using em-dash!
RAII is even worse!
Can't they have better descriptive names?
