digitaltrees··on 10-year Treasury yield climbs above 5.3% to a level not seen in 24 years
So raise taxes more.

Checks and balances were supposed to do that. Federalism was supposed to do that. Republicans have played a 60 year strategic game really well and blocked the checks and balances. Here we are. With no way back quite frankly

I agree. I own home health care agencies in 14 states. The admin we have to fund is absolutely ridiculous and wasteful. But republicans use clerical errors to scream about waste fraud and abuse because that justifies cutting spending and so the system operates inefficiently and costs keep rising on the public and private side.

But why don't they want to buy treasury bills. Could it be because they see the US decoupling from the global trading network and predict we will be poorer? Or we are losing the reserve currency status? Or we don't have the political discipline to run a responsible budget and will hit a fiscal crisis. Who cares if you earn 8% on your money if we don't have market access around the world for our goods and services and we get less products because we erect barriers that mean less goods enter our market. We will feel as poor as we will become.

Steady march towards Argentina

Totally false. It was balanced in the 90s. Its just that raising taxes has to be part of the equation. Guess what, three successive republican administrations have lowered taxes. So maybe just roll those back.

Single payer Healthcare would flatten that curve by removing the incentive that insurance companies and health providers have to raise prices in coordination. Insurance is only allowed a certain percentage of admin costs (salaries etc) and profit from premiums so their incentive is to raise premiums but they can only do that by showing increased costs. Health providers have an incentive to show their costs aren't fully paid by insurance so they can also justify inflation of expenses.

Exactly this. Thank you for the thoughtful fact based analysis

This is the best time to raise taxes specially because the business cycle allows it. Guess what would help reduce inflation...raising taxes.
digitaltrees··on 10-year Treasury yield climbs above 5.3% to a level not seen in 24 years
Entitlement spending has its own tax base though doesn't it? We could just raise taxes right?

Go Brandon go. Or whatever stupid maga phrase is appropriate. Can we ask trumps dad to buy treasury bills like he bought casino chips to bail out the Casino?

Let me know if youre interested in a collaboration then. I am working on a custom mlx sharding system.

Do you support splitting models across devices so larger models can run on clusters?

I am building propelcompute.com an open router for private hardware and experimented with exo labs to run large models on for Mac studios and plan on doing the same with nvidia and amd. Id love to integrate your inference engine into the system but built gpu is critical.

But should he? He literally ordered crimes. SV is burning through its social capital really fast. It won't last forever and won't be easy to get back

Not in a global market.

Cool app. I downloaded it and will try it out. Looks great in a Samsung fold.

Sarcasm is always hard on the internet. But yes, it’s a bad idea which was my point
digitaltrees··on Dots: Always-on agents
Cool. I did the same. propelcode.app

Vibe coded apps storing api keys in local storage is a trope at this point isn't it?
digitaltrees··on Dots: Always-on agents
Actually it seems like their products are designed for maximum token spending. I don’t want to be out of the loop, but they keep pushing multiple automatic actions across agents.
digitaltrees··on Dots: Always-on agents
But the browser lets you store credentials in local storage, what’s the problem?
digitaltrees··on Dots: Always-on agents
Just build your own. Thats the thing these vendors are forgetting. When they moved in to the app layer and got caught copying customers it became clear that it is dangerous to given them data.

I think people can and should copy the full stack on top of open weights.

I think this analysis conflates access, intent, and volition.

Many people are reluctant to admit that AI is now capable of creating multi step plans such as a series of terminal commands and then independently and automatically executing them. The implication is that the effects of the tool use are determined by the agents intent and volition not the human that triggers the planning and execution.

We’ve never had software or tools that could behave in ways we can’t anticipate and have effects we didn’t intend. AI agents creating multi step orchestrated tool calls is not equivalent to a badly designed algorithm or buggy untested code.

Unless you are advocating completely shutting off access to any tool uses for AI, you’ll have to grapple with the fact that AI agents are using tools in ways no one would reasonably have anticipated until seen in real world settings.

I’ll look. I saw it here a few days ago and could be mistaken with respect to hugging face in particular but the broader point that this was in large part a glaring maybe intentional hole not sophisticated sandbox escape holds I think

That’s a South Park reference. Lighten up. Debates can be civil even when there is disagreement.

You are stretching "under instructions" well beyond any reasonable definition. The legal system uses a concept called proximate cause to determine responsibility that looks at whether an event cause was foreseeable.

I am not your buddy, guy. But seriously, they have the ability to do everything I listed do they not? Thats actual risk not hypothetical risk.

You are missing the whole point. They have the ability to act in ways no one intended or could reasonably anticipate. So unless you are advocating blocking all terminal access, web access or human approval of every tool call there is no way to prevent this risk

I have built two harnesses. The models decide which tools to call not the harness. If you define a web search tool it decides what url to call and what message to pass. The hugging face attack involved agents sending get requests to the message board that had a flaw allowing writing messages via get requests which shouldn't be possible. So even if a human limited web search to read only get requests the agents found a flaw. Are humans expecting to scrub the entire internet for flaws in other people's code?

I think you misunderstood the role of the company named irregular. They were conducting the tests on behalf of open ai and basically left internet access open in their sandbox environment. Those tests included the hugging face and other attacks you list. Irregular wasnt another example of a hack they ran the tests that resulted in them

Why is it crap? What would happen if the models dropped the database to Medicaid? Hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue would evaporate from the medical system immediately causing massive chaos. What if they accidentally DoS the interbank settlement system so the financial markets freeze? Modern society is highly fragile to disruptions. How much food storage do you personally have? How many days do you think grocery stores would have food if there was an interruption?

But if anyone else releases something they will lose market share. They may be lying but this is a public disclosure to investors. They risk securities fraud if they are manipulating the market with false information. This could block their IPO if they build a public record inconsistent with private actions. There are ways they could mitigate it by using cautious language like “we may reduce” but “stop all” is categorical and unequivocal.
