Now get off my lawn!
However, a lot of Corporate America frowns upon their employees doing side work. Some (un-winnable, we believe) employment agreements in the US even forbid moonlighting.
So, this was a general point to avoid the potential conflict entirely.
However, keep in mind the primary audience is for those starting out with freelancing while maintaining a full time job... side work.
I would have spent more time getting into details and nuance, the article was already running long. That might be a write up unto itself.
You are right though, we don't want a race to the bottom in pricing for experienced people...
My younger self want's to adjust all those sliders.
My older self adjusted the screen DPI to 300 DPI, (where I can't see the pixels) and moved the weight slider from lighter to heavier until a phone showed up.
And all that showed was the iPhone.
I could care less about RAM, Sims, SD cards, memory, etc now. These aren't indicative of the experience. My younger self would have loved hunting down the right fit phone from the Android market. My older self? Nah. I'll go take some photos of my kids instead.

This is progress people!
But this article was shit. If you like a stylus fine. But that is not innovation. I have 50 Treo styluses to sell you.
How many times do you see people circling the parking when 20 feet away is a spot to park?
But I don't care, this story is B.S., the guy totally was trying report on his agenda and not the facts.
I just upgraded from a "modern" macbook pro (2008, aftermarket SSD) to a "modern" retina macbook pro that is maxed out. IntelliJ and RubyMine fly like the wind on this new machine. The old one was painful to use IntelliJ but you could live with RubyMine performance.
