Can't speak to Amazon, but while this seems surprising it's not that uncommon at big companies. One leaves assuming the grass is greener elsewhere and if/when that turns out not to be the case returning to the place you left provides a sense of confidence that you at least know the bad parts going in. And as described elsewhere it's sadly often an easier way to get a promotion/raise than grinding out the process at the company.

My wife has a bike and absolutely loves it.

We’ve recently tried to purchase one of their treadmills and it’s been a complete joke of incompetence actually trying to get it delivered. Combined with this news it does make us nervous about investing even more money into their ecosystem even though the bike experience has been so positive.

This sums up my feelings as someone who made a reservation as well. Every article I read about the Model 3 seems detached from reality, as if all 500,000 reservation holders have already bought something already.
