I wonder if the people who enjoy the purely agentic version would also enjoy management. Personally, I have said no to more money because I enjoy the ground level work. But that work is just not the same.
I like the idea of using LLMs to transform code into something more readable, and vice versa. I am not sure if meandering paragraphs and linear lists are the best targets.
The only people I know still hyped on this approach were managers who were detached from actual engineering, primarily producing bespoke dashboard and tools.
I'm not sure scanning public GitHub is a great way to identify "do nothing" developers.
You can get it to work with one off commands or specific instructions, but I think that will be seen as hacks, red flags, prompt smells in the long term.
In a similar vein I think that's why there are so many devs making game engines instead of games.
Unfortunately they can also validate some really bad ideas.
