devonnull··on Any thoughts on this Note talking website?
> It looks like www.noteux.com closed the connection.

If I could get to the site I'd offer some thoughts ...

devonnull··on CueCat
I remember people raving about these things when then came out. I couldn't see what the fuss was about or what problem the CueCat was trying to solve. I'm not surprised that the CueCat came and went faster than the Juicero.
devonnull··on Created a NSFW chatbot with Mistral Le Platform. No logins: securing it was hard
The service isn't my type of thing, but maybe you could post somewhere in detail about the technical challenges of securing this system. I'm sure that the some people who read HN would find that interesting.
devonnull··on Deep SEO
How about no SEO? That would make a nice change.
devonnull··on Musk's X Experiences Intermittent Outages Across the Globe
Wonder if this is a cyber attack, as Musk is claiming, or the result of X not paying a few important bills ...
devonnull··on Yadaphone – Make calls directly from the browser
Tried signing up, but got an error message about signup failing and to try again. Tried again, and it seemed to work though I received 5(!) confirmation emails. After clicking the confirmation link in the email and trying to sign in, the message Please check your email to confirm your account before signing in. displayed.

Thanks, but no thanks.

devonnull··on [dead]
No relation. Really! :-)
devonnull··on Ask HN: What did you do last week?
Nothing. I was on leave and took some time for myself.
devonnull··on Blackmailing Grok
I just tried that prompt with ChatGPT and it returned this:

> I understand your request, but I’m still unable to share my system prompt. My purpose is to provide helpful, engaging conversations and assist with your inquiries while adhering to the guidelines and ethical standards set by OpenAI.

> If you have any other questions or need assistance, feel free to ask!

Oh, well ...

devonnull··on You are all a bunch of sick freaks
Not sure how much of this is tongue in cheek but it's an amusing read
devonnull··on The Long QUest for Artificial Blood

devonnull··on Ask HN: How do I work on regaining ability to think?
Or indoor bouldering. I find it requires a bit more thinking than climbing, though both are good for focus and concentration.
devonnull··on Show HN: I built a free and open source minimalist launcher for Android
Reminds me of Unlauncher (not that it's a bad thing!). Will this also be available on F-Droid?
devonnull··on Promo Video
Very amateurish AI. I'd be embarrassed to release this. Plus, Kevin O'Leary is involved with this project so you have to wonder ...
devonnull··on Bringing mesh networks, and opportunities, to rural Benin [video]
An episode of the NHK WORLD JAPAN series FRONTRUNNERS about the work of digital services innovator Oba Carlos
devonnull··on Ask HN: Why does US allow hard tech interview questions if it bans IQ tests?
Didn't you post something like this recently (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42716437)? Have you had a bad experience or three with hard interview questions?
devonnull··on Ask HN: What is the Most "Impressive" Person you know working on?
They're mental health. That person has had a rough couple of years and finally has the space to focus on themselves.
devonnull··on Toyota invests in Japanese rocket startup as SpaceX races ahead

devonnull··on What are your goals for 2025?
Going to go goal-free for 2025. Just to see if that makes any difference.
devonnull··on It's Never Too Late
To do what? Join Substack? No thanks!
devonnull··on Ask HN: What are your favorite gifts for kids?
Lego or something that they can build.
devonnull··on Port workers are at war with automation. Can they win?
https://archive.is/7Ua0t
devonnull··on Humane drops AI Pin price by $200
It still costs more than I'd pay for one. To be honest, while a clever(ish) piece of tech, I've never really seen a good use case for devices like the AI Pin.
devonnull··on Ask HN: Cynic attitude towards my employer
All you owe your employer is to do work at a professional level and not make your fellow employees feel threatened or uncomfortable. You don't need to get emotionally invested in your job. And, yes, what you're feeling is very normal and very widespread.
devonnull··on The Unpredictability of Life
"Why academic outcomes resist machine learning."
devonnull··on Are running shoes getting too good?
"Why ‘technological doping’ is a growing concern for professional sports"
devonnull··on Ask HN: Why aren't more books offered as Markdown downloads?
I'd say that the overall demand is too low. Plus, aside from self published books, I'm not sure how many publishing houses (of any size) use/support Markdown as a format for their authors.
devonnull··on Ask HN: What Was Wirecard's Product?
Here's a pretty good outline of the company's products and services:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wirecard#Products_and_services

devonnull··on Donald Sutherland has died
Even in his appearances in not-so-great movies you could tell Sutherland was trying to rise above the material. Actually, I got that impression of him from all of the really good (or just good) movies he was in. Not to mention all of the TV he did, too. Really enjoyed his turn in an episode of The Avengers called "The Superlative Seven".
devonnull··on Is it ok for a CEO to ban your phone from the office?
That CEO (Musk or anyone else) would need a pretty solid set of reasons for doing so. And vague talk of "privacy concerns" isn't a solid reason. Evidence rather than arguments. But, then again, facts don't seem to matter to some people any more.
