designerarvid··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
It talks to that vain and insecure feeling that many of us have deep down.

Interestingly, unlike instagram the LinkedIn business model has nothing to do with it. It’s built around b2b sales and professional recruitment.

designerarvid··on Two parallel neural ectoderm progenitors contribute to the developing brain
Isn’t it funny how Freud, and probably earlier thinkers, have suggested exactly that the mind is layered like this.
designerarvid··on LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby
Sure, but that’s not a feasible solution for end-users, or people who hasn’t got all the free time
designerarvid··on LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby
Is there some way to jailbreak your tv and run som open source os on it? Or something like that?

Not exactly sure what I’m after, but the problem is acute and widely prevalent, so there has to be some solution.

designerarvid··on We have a year to fix security everywhere
Not entirely unlike XKCD 1958 [0]. "I guess it's just that most people aren't murderers"

designerarvid··on How does IKEA come up with names for its products?
My guess is just that they are quite serious about user testing the manuals. 3-4 iterations and you're good to go. Many companies would never imagine that you could test manuals.
designerarvid··on How does IKEA come up with names for its products?
If everything considered 'user hostile' on this forum actually was, the world economy would look very different. People love going to IKEA.
designerarvid··on How does IKEA come up with names for its products?
Clear and interesting names is extremely good customer experience. Most companies name their products straight from the ERP system, creating incomprehensible codes that sounds like they come from Star Trek.

Ikea has pioneered so much within service design (design beyond the actual product). The in-store journey, the self-assembly, the assembly instructions, clear naming, clear product display, in-store restaurant experience. The list goes on.

After Ingvar Kamprad retired, he continued travelling the world to do store inspections. Full-day walkthroughs that started in the morning at the loading bay and continued throughout the store. Everything was inspected and a list of follow-up actions was created for the store manager.

designerarvid··on Study links coffee consumption to metabolic health and sex hormones
Either point out weaknesses in the study, or dubious funding behind it etc. Or just stick with saying that you prefer tea.
designerarvid··on OpenAI and Hugging Face address security incident during model evaluation
What if someone reasoned similarly regarding hydrogen bombs? It would not be considered a serious argument.

Though, Altman has said that something like the IAEA for AI is needed.

designerarvid··on Jack Dorsey launches Buzz to combine team chat, AI agents and Git hosting
What problem is that a solution to? Is there a problem with someone owning it, in that case: what?
designerarvid··on Inhaling high-dose CO2 clears Alzheimer's proteins from the brain
Some ppm less perhaps
designerarvid··on Why do AI company logos look like buttholes? (2025)
They’re apertures; symbolically things emerge from them.

“…but that’s really all a butthole is, an aperture” - Louis CK

designerarvid··on Show HN: IKEA Complexity Index
Tuffing is “tough guy”, somewhat appropriate
designerarvid··on How I use HTMX with Go
Isn’t the whole point of HTMX philosophy to question whether you need interconnected components with shared state? Most apps are doing crud on a database at the end of the day.
designerarvid··on Tiny data centre used to heat public swimming pool
In my home town the local steel plant has been connected to the district heating systems for half a century. This is extremely mature technology and widely used in parts of the world where heating homes is more important than cooling them.
designerarvid··on Building relationships with customers through support didn't turn out as hoped
Sure, people want a personal human answer. But not as much as they want the correct answer.

Also, I think that we want to communicate with a company (Human or AI), and not a person, quite often. As you’re supporting a business transaction, not making friends. There’s a certain anonymity that comes with the business transaction. I wouldn’t ask for a refund from a friend.

designerarvid··on Shadcn/UI now defaults to Base UI instead of Radix
Maybe the human has been reading too much ai generated text and got influenced by it?
designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
Always difficult to define a year exactly. Obama a/b-testing campaigns was definitely a step on the way.
designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
Good point. Future historians looking back will likely consider 2015/2016 to be the point when we entered the social-media-epoch. Both Brexit and Trump where mainly social-media-driven phenomenon.
designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
Agreed, surely politicians are good at aligning to what's popular.

A certain type of people thrived in 1970's East Germany too, saying to themselves that it was for the greater good.

designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
Not painting it any way, just asking. I'm in the EU btw, we're likely heading in the same direction from what it seems.
designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
I don't know, hence the question.
designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
Here's a random movie recommendation that has nothing at all to do with the above comment or the original link posted: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405094
designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
Conveniently, this will force the government to authenticate all users of social media to ensure they are over 16.
designerarvid··on Under-16s to be banned from social media, Starmer announces
Honest question: Is this about anything else than forcing all citizens to ID themselves to the government before using digital services?
designerarvid··on Every Frame Perfect
Dragning downwards on the iPhone Home Screen to search is a perfect example, the gradual blur animation is never auto playing once activated. Instead, it responds to your drag and you are always in control.
designerarvid··on Dopamine Fracking
Guessing by your examples that you are American. Maybe you are aware, or perhaps not, that in Europe many view your culture as the one that has taken this to its extreme. Some envy it, some don’t.
designerarvid··on I design with Claude more than Figma now
Generalising sure feels good doesn’t it?
designerarvid··on I design with Claude more than Figma now
Many nuances and “it depends” here in my experience. Is learning git part of “learning to code”? Some learn, others don’t.

Of course hammering away prompts aren’t learning at all.
