deluxeroyaleon Valetudo – Cloud replacement for vacuum robots enabling local-only operation

Great learnings, thanks for sharing. I have been eyeing the roborock series as there seems to be some sort of consensus on them being slightly better than the others, yet I get this review astroturfing vibe when reading reviews and posts. And like you mention in the learnings; mop gets moldy, dust bag emptying, huge basestation etc just misses the point somehow. I will probably end up getting one slimmed down version from roborock

deluxeroyaleon Valetudo – Cloud replacement for vacuum robots enabling local-only operation

Thanks, Looks really nice and exactly what I am looking for. I want to mention that my first reaction was “it’s huge, where do i even put it?” And make sure you ship outside the US!

deluxeroyaleon Valetudo – Cloud replacement for vacuum robots enabling local-only operation

I own a Neato Robotics Botvac Connected, and with Neato shutting down, my robots cloud-dependent functions will be useless(remote start, iphone app etc) Unfortunately it’s incompatible with Valetudo.

The Chinese $Mi bots I’ve come across lack the suction power I loved about the Neato. I’m in search of a no-nonsense replacement. Any solid suggestions? Dyson one seems nice but way to expensive.

Nice! I’ll try to use this on the next project that I design.

deluxeroyaleon Syncthing: A continuous file synchronization program

Same here, being hold hostage by resilio just waiting for it to either die or kill my files. I really need that selective sync.

deluxeroyaleon Saving Instagram images automatically every hour with Node.js or PHP

I believe instagram serves you two different sets of images depending on if you are logged in or not. The “original” resolution can only be seen logged in. I’ll give it a try once a get the time. Thanks

deluxeroyaleon Saving Instagram images automatically every hour with Node.js or PHP

Thanks, this looks great compared to a lot of the other grabbers/rippers out there. I didn’t find any info this rips the high res image or only lower res web version.

deluxeroyaleon PayPal has restricted our account after we invoiced a key containing “ALEP”

This is horrifyingly bad. I have yet to this day read anything good about paypal. They provide a “free” service with the option to rob the user of their money at any random moment. What other options are there out there that provide similar services? Are all modern banking services this bad at their core or is paypal by far the worst? There has to be options that are at least partially run by sane humans.

deluxeroyaleon Ask HN: Where to get help with a hardware idea?

This might be to some help; I saw this video posted on another HN-thread and it covers some of my experiences with industrial design/engineering.

https://youtu.be/2K5Gqp1cEcM

Not the biggest fan of LTT but the video covers some important points especially if you are going to follow through and commit with the project. I would say finding the right manufacturing partner is key.

deluxeroyaleon Portmaster 1.0 – Open-Source Network Monitor and Privacy Firewall

Thanks this is great, it would be nice to have one to compare with LS just for the sake of features similiar too.

In that case he better be involved or this would be the second time the guy got ripped off

deluxeroyaleon The Signal State – Modular Synth Logic Puzzle Game

Isn’t his art style pretty ubiquitous. I see it all over and mid journey does a great job replicating it. He could have been commissioned to draw the art but I doubt it.

deluxeroyaleon Black MIDI

A childhood friend used to compose “Frank Zappa”-like music using some obscure MIDI composing software on windows. I used to watch him randomly spread out thousands of notes on the note sheet, press play and it would just sound bizarre and random, I didn’t get it. I was 13 and the year was 1999.

deluxeroyaleon Why does iron deficiency cause fatigue, even in the absence of anemia?

I think op might have been referring to this assuming PFAS and microplastics are all disposed off https://www.independent.co.uk/independentpremium/world/blood...

deluxeroyaleon Kinopio

Yeah I should have phrased that question better since you wrote solo creator. Do you use any external people to get anything done?

deluxeroyaleon Kinopio

Amazing work @pketh, been following your blog and work for a while. Really inspiring, not a lot of work out there that reaches this level of quality in all aspects. Are you doing all the work on this or do you have a team with you?

deluxeroyaleon MailTrackerBlocker 0.4.1 – The biggest feature update yet

This is great. I installed mailtracker on all my computers running apple mail. The feeling of being naked when using a browser without an adblocker has always been present with when using mail. This really fixes that!

deluxeroyaleon Using a magnetic string to fish for a lost iPhone 12 in a Berlin canal

My GF dropped one of her airpod pro’s in a storm drain. I taped some rare earth magnets (extracted from some old e-junk) onto a foldable ruler. The airpods end snapped onto the magnets and I fished it up!

deluxeroyaleon Intro to The 8-Point Grid System (2016)

Points are used as a measurement to simplify designing for high resolution displays. A standard resolution display has a 1:1 pixel density, 1 pixel is equal to 1 point. High resolution displays have a higher pixel density where a scale factor of 2.0 or 3.0 is used (iPhones in this case).
