defrex··on Google Translate says "Lorem Ipsum Dolor" is "Hello World"
An easter egg, it seems.

defrex··on CreatePDF.in: My two hour website to pdf project
I believe "start of the art" is a pun, since he's using lame tech.
defrex··on Apple Takes on Droid X With Latest Smartphone Antenna Video
I like how they had the dialpad open to make the phone look more complex and less attractive. Nice touch.
defrex··on Poll: Are you a software pirate?
The only thing I pirate anymore is Windows XP. It lives in a VM and only gets run for browser testing. Everything else is Free Software.
defrex··on Demo about mixing HTML5, CSS3, WebGL
It entirely depends on the project. If your making a rich web application I think it's entirely justifiable to require ff, chrome, safari, opera, or IE9 (or earlier, with chrome tab).
defrex··on Idea for date formatting strings
To remove ambiguity, you could say months should be represented by December, days by the 31st, weeks by Friday, and so on. In that way it would be easy to implement and easy to write to. Then the case of "01-01-01" becomes "31-12-99", for example. Still easy to read, still easy to implement.
defrex··on Android vs. iPhone: How Google is winning hearts of developers
One can write good looking apps for Android. It's just not as easy as it is for iPhone. Having done both myself: on iPhone you can just throw together a bunch of default widgets to get the job done and your app will look pretty good. Doing the same on android.. not so much.

However, the latest apps out of Google (IO Schedule, Twitter) are using some of android's new UI patters, and they look good. Hopefully these new designs will be reflected more in the widgets shipped with 2.3.

defrex··on Install Firefox 3.5 in Ubuntu 9.04 using Ubuntuzilla
uh, apt-get install firefox-3.5

Works like a charm for me. Flash too.

defrex··on Creating a Gmail Account Requires SMS Verification
I've actually been toying with doing this rather then email verification and a captcha for a social site. Would you find this more or less annoying then an email loop and a captcha?
defrex··on Joyent Smart Platform, open-source server-side JavaScript web framework.
It's a platform-as-service deal. Like Google App Engine but with JavaScript rather then Python.
defrex··on Google Open Source Blog: Introducing Android Scripting Environment
I recently got the HTC Magic (G2). It's pretty sweet. The battery life is good, too. It lasts me all day with heavy use.

defrex··on So I created this Twitter image aggregator. What do you think?
Into Google Reader it goes. In the "misc" folder with the lolcats...
defrex··on Pyjamas: build AJAX apps in Python (like Google did for Java)
Hmm, can this be used for only javascript? As in, I write my own html but use pyjamas to generate my js (which can manipulate the dom of my html).

I'm down with abstracting javascript (good riddance), but I like to be picky about html.
