The end objective of web development is to bring desktop like experience? I wouldn't blame the failure of Cappuccino on the emergence of micro libraries. Cappuccino simply does not sound like what the web needs.
Disabling user scaling (zooming) is a choice made by the website itself and not by the browser. So even though it is a bad usability-wise, it cannot be regarded as a problem with responsive web design.
TCS (Tata's IT arm) has a revenue of $10 billion and employs 260000 people. How can that amount to nothing? TCS builds software for a large number of Fortune 500 companies. You would be surprised how much of software you use daily is built in India.

Out of the lot, jQuery Mobile + PhoneGap is a pretty good choice. However, jQuery mobile is a resource hog, and is really slow on some android devices. Blackberry and Symbain struggle just to load the pages...
