deadlast2··on Google’s Project Suncatcher to put ML infrastructure in space
Wonder is this obvious fraud related to a large ownership in fakex
deadlast2··on Autism is genetic – and why this information matters now
I lived in New York 2004 to 2009. 2006 I think there was this epidemic in cases when I say everyone had kids who were autistic I am not even exagerating. I was one. Was like a movie I dont think I could exagerate what happened it was everywhere all at once. It was vaccines everyine knew it everyone still does. These people are liars. They were then they still are dont believe them.
deadlast2··on Cherenkov Radiation
Why do you believe that like if you are measuring it maybe you are doing it wrong. Seems to me that we need this light fastest X to hold up a load of physics even when there has been recently numerous experiments which challenge this premise.
deadlast2··on On Really Trying (2009)
I don't think it's going to make a difference over a generation or two. If it did we'd have a society of high achievers and no achievers. Rags to riches and back in X generations. The people doing drugs and falling out with society may themselves be high achievers too Drugs drugs casts a wide net. You'll get older and unwanted and stupid like the rest of us. Then you'll wake up. Hopefully when you do you're not on your own.
deadlast2··on Fastpotify
There is a tribe of people who carve bots out of trees using their hands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dugout_canoe. It stupid to waste time doing something a computer can do reasonably well. IMO
deadlast2··on Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash
For me it's kind of weird right it's like no one can see the bigger picture. All technology's going to be eaten by AI so companies like Google, Microsoft, Meta ... are middle men in an industry that's disappearing. No one's really going to use a search engine when a chat bot can do a better job. No one is going to pay for software when the AI can do the whole process better at a proper command. All technology and the companies in it are essentially horses and the related roles in a time of cars. That whole slice of the economy is at best going to reduce year on year eventually to disappear. No replacement AI is it.
deadlast2··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
I don't think it's by choice just ask all those extinct manufacturers
deadlast2··on The US national debt now stands at $40T
People can't see the exponential. That is why they think there is time. There is no time. Current play goes like this double the size of the stock market asap think trillion dollar new companies. Increase revenue through increased capital gains. Hope that this works before a forced default.
deadlast2··on Working with AI feels more like leadership than coding
Because there are so many different jobs all over the place. Job boards are full of people crying out for help. Every morning I wake up to a literal sea of emails from hiring managers looking for my aid. I only choose those jobs that look interesting and only work with the people who pay and treat me well. /s
deadlast2··on The Color of White Light
Sun is white light. Wonder what that means. Brightest object in out awareness is modeled as clean white. Or is this the actual basic color.
deadlast2··on New Amazon Data Center Is Set to Have the Most Polluting Power Plant in the U.S.
I am sure if these guys worked on it they could have better PR. It is like AI is the modern version of the oil industry.
deadlast2··on Born Against, or why hobby programming communities are against LLM usage
Is that ever the case I think we believe in it as an ideal but never see it. For instance a doctor in Pakistan that moves to the usa and ends up driving a taxi.
deadlast2··on Scientists discover Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability on the surface of the Sun
The light from the sun is white so with all these anomalies would the color of this light not change even slightly.
deadlast2··on Reverse Jevons Paradox
Is it just me or is this a pervasive pattern in hackernews... Someone makes a point then someone makes a contrary point and the conversation spirals off with nothing to do with the original post or concepts. I particularly notice this in more controversial posts on politics.
deadlast2··on Managing AI Coding Costs at Scale
Does it not end. Like is there not a point with all this speedups and infinite intelligence that your software system is essentially done.
deadlast2··on What happens if an entire class of workers loses faith in their careers
There are lots of countries that have a form of this and survive. Almost every country in Europe has a social welfare system and free healthcare for instance. I
deadlast2··on Tell HN: Pretending not to use AI has made me a better developer
Seems like you are breaking the contract with your peers. There are lots of reasons to reject AI generated work.

You are deceiving your peers who you have accepted as being the managers of the approach to this work.

You cannot realistically justify this fraud. You should own up and stop contributing.

Please note I say this as a person who only write AI code. Even if you query your AI it will say the same thing.

deadlast2··on The Shape of Things to Come
MOE and COT or github co-pilot. I think agents can marginally improve the performance of AI.
deadlast2··on A big win for Android interoperability
Now let's bite the apple.
deadlast2··on Ask HN: Any tips for a college freshman enrolled in computer science?
Drop out take up a trade. It was never something that could be taught well and most colleges were a waste of time. Now it is dead forget about it and do something useful with your life.
deadlast2··on GPT-5.6 Sol, along with Terra and Luna, will launch publicly this Thursday
I use Open AI and Claude a lot right like a lot everyday for hours multiple hours. Open AI gives much more value for money than Claude much more I'd say x 10. Mainly I use it for writing fiction books and literally Claude is locked 90% of everyday trying to jip me for tokens. It's not as good at coding for what I do which is a very complicated application. However it is very good at writing it's really good which is why I keep it right but over 90% maybe actually all of my work except the initial draft of a chapter is done by open AI.
deadlast2··on Companies hire more after AI adoption
And yet when I go their website the BANNER is: Introducing Stack by Ramp — the AI operating system for accounting firms.
deadlast2··on Firing programmers for AI is a mistake
The programming is an interface to the machine. The AI even what we know now (LLM's, Agents, RAG) will absorb all that. It has many flaws but is still much better than most programmers.

All future programmers will be using it.

For the programmers that don't want to use it. I think there will be literally billions of lines of unbelievably bad code generated by these 1-100 generation Ai's and junior programmers that need to be corrected and fixed.

deadlast2··on Microsoft Is Dead (2007)
[Zero to One](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zero-One-Notes-Startups-Future/dp/0...) book by Peter Thiel. One thing I took from this book is that Google Micrsoft, Meta are all monopolies. There is no competition. Look even in [Russia](https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/all/russian-feder...), [China](https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/all/china) they all use thsi stuff.
deadlast2··on Roman Empire's use of lead lowered IQ levels across Europe, study finds
Would love to see a similar study on fluoride in modern civilizations.
deadlast2··on California Flat Earther admits partial defeat after trip to Antarctica
They are trolling the flerfs. 1. He literally had a green screen on when he was initially broadcasting. 2. He was caught vaping to try and mimic vapor breath. 3. His shadows were all over the place like doubled in length in 3 feet walk. 4. The times were wrong the direction of the sun was wrong. 5. They were saying the place is empty when there are a load of people down there recently. 6. They are walking on the ground not leaving footprints in the snow. 7. They have studio lights all around the place where they walk. 8. When recording the 24hr sun a tractor literally teleports into view. Thye also got the overlay wrong. 9. He could not pick up snow on the ground where he was talking. 10 The sun literally changed shape in the sky. 11. They kept to this tiny area with no exploration whatever the audience asked they would not do. I don't know whether they went down there but it sure felt like a staged stuidio production.
deadlast2··on Meta Wants More AI Bots on Facebook and Instagram
I honestly would prefer to talk to an AI customized to my personalty. I get erratic can change my mind and have get crazy ideas like the earth being flat etc. So if you had an AI you can just be yourself always without any judgement or repercussions. Even if that changes from day to day.
deadlast2··on Ask HN: What's the best thing you've watched this year?
- Anora: really good movie. Bit rude at the start but leaves you thinking about it a long time after. Also ended up arguing a lot with my whife what it was actually about. - The Return: not bad a bit long but a good rendition. - Day of the Jackal: This was good series.
deadlast2··on Is image background removal a solved problem?
I think you replied to the wrong post.
deadlast2··on DOJ will push Google to sell off Chrome
Why does Apple get to get it app store and its browser and its phones and OS etc. What about Microsoft with its OS's and apps.
