de6u99er··on Google stole open source code without crediting the authors (Artemis/Minitap)
I'd like to know how many imposters work in big tech.
de6u99er··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
LOL, good luck keeping feature parity for both code bases. I moved to Flutter which has been a great experience so far.
de6u99er··on Anthropic Is Building a Predictive Surveillance System to Monitor Activists
This is what usually happens when you put people in charge who can't be trusted to bear the weight of the power entrusted into them. I wish there was a mandatory sociopath test every C-hole is obliged to take.
de6u99er··on How I advertise malicious software on Google Ads
Google doesn't care. They advertise online betting to kids, because those platforms now have some "free" online games.
de6u99er··on How GPT‑5.6 Sol helps run quantum computing experiments
Another glorious random number generator experiment?
de6u99er··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
I can confirm, that bullshitter mode has reached now Fable too.

I had to switch to Fable, because Opus has become completely unreliable. Just now while working on a specific task, Fable made changes completely unrelated to the task and introduced new regressions.

Fable now talks complete nonsense.

I do not understand why Anthropic is so focussed in squeezing a few fractions out of benchmarks, while at the same time making the life of developers insufferable. I am seriously considering ditching Anthropic and moving to something else.

The thing that I describe as bullshitter mode is starting to feel extremely unproductive for me. I spend more time making Claude code do what I want than before!

de6u99er··on Is it just me, or has Claude Opus gotten worse recently?
It's good at polishing English text!
de6u99er··on Highest-ever ocean temperature measured as powerful El Niño forms
And I think the artificially created right wing shift was to enable Israel to do a lot of killing without the rest world being united to tell them to stop with this.
de6u99er··on As a Windows user, it's a surreal way to install a program
When you look at an application in your Applications folder (like Safari or Microsoft Word), macOS makes it look and act like a single file or icon. But if you were to right-click (or control-click) on that app and select "Show Package Contents", you would see the truth: it is actually a folder structure.
de6u99er··on I don't recommend Tailwind CSS
ok
de6u99er··on Kimi K3-256k
So users in Germany are not affected?
de6u99er··on First atmosphere found on Earth-like planet in habitable zone of distant star
There could be a second one (see at the end if this interview).

de6u99er··on Show HN: Clawk – Give coding agents a disposable Linux VM, not your laptop
On my Mac, every sudo requires either my fingerprint or password, and times out immediately.
de6u99er··on Einstein's relativity rules chemical bonds in heavy elements, new research shows
It's beautiful to see Einstein's work still being validated.
de6u99er··on 45% of Enthusiasts 'Seriously Considering' Leaving Sony for PC
I strongly believe generative AI is going to change this equation. Not only will it lower the cost for studios, it will also enable gamers to make adjustments to games within pre-defined parameters.
de6u99er··on John Deere owners will get the right to repair equipment under FTC settlement
Wouldn't it be easier to build an open hardware/source alternative to Ring cameras.
de6u99er··on Command and Conquer Generals natively ported to macOS, iPhone, iPad using Fable
>No game assets are included or distributed. You need your own copy (Steam, ~$5 on sale).

Damn, I still have the CD in one of my unopened boxes from our last move.

de6u99er··on Claude Sonnet 5
I switched to Sonnet 5.

My impression is, that Claude tries to use more and more tokens. E.g. doing playwright with screenshots for things that i could have easily confirmed. Doing unneccessari ntermediate builds with tons of logs to process, ...

Honestly, after the first good impression such behavior makes me start losing trust in Anthropic.

de6u99er··on A PDF that changes based on how its read
That's q nice trick. Thanks for sharing!
de6u99er··on Was my $48K GPU server worth it?
You definitely want to get rid of your M3 Ultra before the M5 Ultra get officially announced.
de6u99er··on Ask HN: Mac users – has Mac-to-Android texting broke for you, since macOS 26.5?
If you try to text an Android number from your Mac and the "Send" button is grayed out or the message fails, it usually means a setting called Text Message Forwarding is turned off on your iPhone.
de6u99er··on Meta’s AI smart glasses and data privacy concerns
It's the same issue with Tesla collecting camera feeds through their cars to use it for macbine learning.

Those videos can also be a used to track people. IMHO each Tesla owner sending video data to Tesla's data centers is violating privacy laws!

de6u99er··on OpenAI – How to delete your account
That's not correct, at least not here inEurope.

You can disable saving your activity In this case you chat's win't be stored or used.

If you use Gemini through Google Workspace, all chat's won't leave the workspace environment and won't be used for LLM training (as of now).

de6u99er··on Australia begins enforcing world-first teen social media ban
It's very simple. Parents can configure parental controls on their children's devices.

de6u99er··on GHC now runs in the browser
Serious question. Is Haskell still a thing?
de6u99er··on I have two Amazon Echos that I never use, but they apparently burn GBs a day
This is click ait, right?
de6u99er··on Some users have noticed settings that let Meta analyze and retain phone photos
I remember when Facebook hired George Hotz. The idea was to circumvent phone security and privacy settings.
de6u99er··on Tesla said it didn't have key data in a fatal crash, then a hacker found it
So first the data wasn't there, and suddenly it is there. I think the only way to prevent tis in the future is to litigate against those individuals who knowingly lie for a company.
