Some points to add:

  - As soon as I start a Videocall, the rest of the Application is almost completely unusable
  - The Application uses 500MB of RAM after it has been idling with one message received in the last hour
ddoeth··on Red seaweed supplementation reduces enteric methane by over 80% in beef steers
Except the beef that isn't from free roaming animals but from mass producing facilities.
ddoeth··on Open source projects should run office hours
I think the authors explanation with the german word "Sprechstunde" is really great. There is a clear distinction between "Arbeitszeit" which is the working time and the "Sprechstunde" which is the time someone is available to talk to.
ddoeth··on Beyond Meat signs global supply deals with McDonald’s, KFC and Pizza Hut
Yes, they kill them, but the meat is burned or otherwise destroyed, it is not going to be eaten.

This is a super cool representation, that made a lot of sense and the animations are super responsive and easy to follow.

ddoeth··on M1 Mac owners are experiencing high SSD writes over short periods of time
55TB written in 2 months for a chrome machine is insane. My 2016 MBP has 55 TB written in those almost 5 years.
ddoeth··on M1 Mac owners are experiencing high SSD writes over short periods of time
My 2016 MPB is also at around those R/W numbers but a bit higher in the used area. I am however not sure what those Power On Hours are refering to, since I have been using this machine daily for many hours.

Oh, great, yes, that is certainly going to have a huge impact.

Because the chargers are known to have a huge impact because of all the rare earth in them.

Kite is doind pretty well for me in Python.

In my experience a lot of stuff that is auto-completed in java is boilerplate, stuff that I don't really need in python.

ddoeth··on Commenting vs. Making
I'm more of a maker myself and I hate that there are some things that I can't just do but that need to be decided by someone else (which in my company is usually taking forever)
ddoeth··on Web Spectrogram using your Mic
We used something similar in school assemblys years ago, every student was able to hear it, the whole assembly errupted in chaos and none of the teachers were able to figure out what was happening. Good times.
ddoeth··on Complexity Explained
What really bothered me was that the animation only started when the new slide hit the top of the page. When I was not scrolling perfectly, the top most rows of text where already hidden.

ddoeth··on Funkwhale – Decentralized, self-hosted music server
Maybe that's just because I'm too young, but most of my music discovery since I was 16 maybe was done through spotify, so spotify knows pretty much exactly what music I know and what music I don't know.
ddoeth··on SpotifyKeyDumper – Dump song decryption keys from the Windows Spotify client

ddoeth··on SpotifyKeyDumper – Dump song decryption keys from the Windows Spotify client
Every time music that I like disappears from Spotify I just buy the Vinyl. I bought at least 10 Albums last Year because Spotify dropped them, it really sucks.

ddoeth··on So You Want to Learn Physics (2016)
You fire the gun horizontal to the ground. That way it will theoretically reach the ground (although far away) at the same time the ball does.
ddoeth··on Show HN: Trail Router – generate running routes that prefer greenery and nature
Thanks, yes. I think it would be nice to have some kind of range indication, maybe the waypoints could be letters so they don't get confusing?

And then you can toggle distance measurements.

And for the direction problem, maybe a change of color every kilometer or a gradient? Although that might also be confusing.

ddoeth··on Show HN: Trail Router – generate running routes that prefer greenery and nature
Is there any way too see this? Because for both I selected Round trip.

Also the first kilometer seems way too short in comparison to the second

Edit: Wait, the numbers are not every kilometer, right?

ddoeth··on Show HN: Trail Router – generate running routes that prefer greenery and nature
I think there might be a bug, check this out: https://imgur.com/a/DXhMWxG

I know for a fact that the second one is about right, because I ran it already. The first one however is somehow showing "shorter" kilometers, by the end it should be about 2.5km. Did I do something wrong?

ddoeth··on Colornames.org – A collaborative effort to name all 16.7M colors
Although I got it right in the end, I found the second row to be insanely hard.

But somehow, on all rows, the colors just seemed to snap into place for me, is that a normal feeling?

ddoeth··on Generating MIDI melody from lyrics using LSTM-GANs
Now consider this: Something generated by a computer, in this case music, has no intent.

But what happens if I curate it, judge it, only publish the best ones. Through that I add my intent.

Where is the difference between curating a number of computer generated songs into an album, and curating a number of computer generated sounds into a piece of music?

Both require some sort of talent, both add intent to something that a computer generated.
