The key is that asking for a solicitor is not an unreasonable delay.

So the basic advice not to talk to the police holds.

Except in a very few cases related to terror or fraud or being at the border you have a right to a solicitor before answering questiins. Furthermore if the police don't allow you one then they would be breaking the law.

No the jury cannot hold against you that you asked for a lawyer. In fact if you are not provided with one after asking then the police would be in violation of PACE codes and the prosecution is unlikely to even go to trial.

I am not a solicitor of course.

Nope but someone might anonymously report that there is someone with this mailing address selling drugs...

Vim is more of a concept in human computer interaction. Most of the software in the linked page share zero LOC with vim. But they share keybindings, modalness and a general way of interacting.

Sort of the inverse of Emacs.

Ironically I would probably not violate a coc. But I won't ever know because I won't do volunteer work in my free time under such conditions.

People don't have a legal duty to act unreasonably. In your analogy they would...

If we didn't have copyright law then your comparison would make sense.

Nope I understand your point. But I disagree with you.

If someone steals from another project member or breaks other laws the police should be called.

> GitHub's encouragement of sloppy licensing, no licensing, or licensing under only a single version of the GPL, has done terrible harm to our community.

> GitHub was so bad for free software, all along, that I could imagine Microsoft's making it less bad, or making it more bad. We should judge by what actually happens, not by prejudice.

> Keep in mind that Apple is much worse than Microsoft.

The title this thread "Github has done terrible harm to our community." is a very selective quote.

What was happening that the coc helped with?

Because reasonable people already know how to behave and don't need a document to tell them. I've never seen a case where a coc improved software.

If by intended you mean driving away reasonable people that want to make software not get involved in politically motivated drama and moral panics then yes.

It mainly would not exist. Or if it did it would be very different.

We won't. You can't force me to contribute to your project and if it has such a coc I just won't.

The status was always beta. If a company says their product is beta then you should believe them.

Why would someone plan important workflows around a BETA product????

If authorized by a judge then yes.

One has to buy an addon to my travel insurance just to transit through a US airport...

Also not OK!

The biggest most important right is to buy the freehold (or extend the lease). I would rather just own a freehold...

As another poster pointed out many leaseholds today come with a share of freehold anyway.

Plenty of other countries only have equivalent systems to commonhold.

Personally I value leasehold property as worthless. I wonder how many other people do? And how much this contributes to UK people being reluctant to live in flats?

Leasehold is evil.

Why do you want males to get preventable cancer?

No because they die of throat cancer at the same rate as women die of cervical cancer.

Do you mind if I send someone to sit in your office/living room taking notes on conversations and reporting them back to me?

That is telemetry.

Well I won't buy or recommend and more Ubiquiti hardware.

I wonder if companies really understand how much stupid decisions like this taint their brand.

Yes that is what I was saying.
