dbachelder··on Micro-promotions and mentorship: impact of small actions in engineering culture
I've worked in that same environment (as a man (and have been one of those nitwits (hopefully not a detractor!!!))) for 2 decades and echo those thoughts. The author is being genuine and accurate. Anyone offended by it should take a look in the mirror.
dbachelder··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (March 2017)
Zumper/PadMapper is hiring!

We are doing innovative stuff in the apartment rental space. We have a two sided market and tools for both sides! Come work with us and help solve a problem that effects pretty much everyone at one time or another: finding a place to live.

Zumper/PadMapper | Infrastructure Engineer | SF | ONSITE, https://jobs.lever.co/zumper/51b45c4e-798e-4e85-b3b0-287b8c4...

Zumper/PadMapper | Backend Python Engineer | SF | ONSITE, https://jobs.lever.co/zumper/f10fda2d-331e-478e-82a0-64cb0fc...

We have a very senior backend team and we are looking to expand and modernize. We are looking for people with at least a couple years of professional Python experience. These are mid-senior roles. Ideally you are already located in SF so we can move quickly and get you on the team!

dbachelder··on Zumper allows renters to apply for apartments in a Zapp
Radpad doesn't do any of that....
dbachelder··on Firefox Jetpack For Real Time Squarespace Traffic Monitoring
That would be infinitely cooler
dbachelder··on Tag Clouds For Every App Store Category
Nice catch. It's up there now. Thanks!
dbachelder··on Tag Cloud with Every App in iTunes App Store
wtf is a Travelto?
dbachelder··on How many people will buy your iPhone app today? Probably none.
It's hard to know for sure... it's all conjecture and hypothesis at this point... If you have specific objections to the data, I'd love to hear them... You are right that the generalization doesn't apply specifically to all categories.. but it does seem to apply in general and provides a great starting point for further discussion and analysis, IMO.
