Aereo was great when I used it. I even tried applying to work there because I was super interested in their service. I only had one bad experience and it was trying to watch the SuperBowl using Aereo. It wasn't bad but wasn't great (freezing,buffering,slow speeds on a fios Connection) . I completely understood that it was a big national event and didn't hold it against them. It probably wasn't even their fault but their bandwidth providers was probably being hammered also.Unfortunately, because of that I ended up canceling and getting Fios TV.Mainly,because I hosted a Superbowl part at my house and everyone was upset at the stream so I ended up getting Fios TV that way for future events/parties I didn't have to worry about a buffer or people being upset again. Regardless I love what they stood for and used the service a lot when I had it. It's sad there's no real alternative.

I believe this is a step in the right direction.

The pi is wonderful for tinkering. But i'm finding it too slow to do most things I want it to do. The beaglebone black is good but I just hate the micro hdmi port.. I wish they put a reg HDMI port on it.

I also felt insecure being a black male in tech. A lot of it came from when I would go to tech events or hackathons in NYC and I would be the only black male at most of them and at others there would only be one other black guy. Also for jobs I felt I had to take w.e. salary I was offered . Mainly because I felt I was even lucky to be black and have a tech job. Then one day I realized that fear was in my head . I was never once denied a job and if anything a lot of businesses want to be more diversed and they just don't find a lot of good black candidates in Tech and I could use that to my advantage. I also find a lot of techies listen to hip hop as well and that helped us connect. What also helped me get over it was that no one cared I was black.In all my years at being active in the community no one has ever mentioned it even when I felt it was the elephant in the room. I think in tech more people are open to the idea that it's not the color of your skin or your sex ... They judge you off how smart you are and what you are bringing to the table

I don't mind YouTube ads on most videos . The only time I truly mind YouTube ads are on any video where the main target is under age 5. Nothing is worst than having to tell my 1 year old son he has to wait 30 seconds for the ad to finish until he can watch his show that he already saw the thumbnail preview to . I would gladly pay a resonable subscription for that to stop.

I dream one day we will all have 1 Gig per second up and down on our mobile phones and it will cost less than a gallon of milk. A man can dream can't he lol .

What a great article. To think this guy had no idea for months he was talking to one of the biggest whistleblowers of our generation. Reading this makes me wonder if there's room for a yellow pages style public key directory for journalists. That would of saved a lot of time and hassle.

This goes to show how important analytics is in a business. They found something they could market better in their own software by understanding their business more. Big ups to Ghost for that discovery.

Yes I have in more than a few situations, but like I said people will be people and you can't change them. The only thing that will happen is maybe for 2 weeks they will change but they will slowly creep into being back to who they are. By complaining to your bosses about it - it ends up looking like you are the problem instead of them.You would like to think your manager will see it your way but they usually don't. All they will end up seeing is that anonobot is the one always complaining to them and that your co-worker isn't. It's weird but it's true.

He may just have a bit of a god complex or is being very competitive and that may just be his personality. I have yet to figure out a perfect way of dealing with it because you can't change who people are.

Some advice I can give is to ride it out and do great work for the experience and switch jobs when you can because not all companies are the same and there are some that have really nice people.

If you can't switch jobs or don't want to switch jobs then something that worked for me is just hear what he has to say and then do what you was going to do anyway if and only if it's better than that persons suggestion.

Try to be open minded,listen to the things they say and not stress yourself over his personailty because he could have some valid points in his rants.

As for interviews .. Try to do a separate interview with candidates going forward if those things are going to stress you out.

To be honest I don't see room in the mobile payments market anymore for third parties. I see Apple pay,Google wallet,PayPal and Amazon taken up 95% of the pie in 5-10 years.

Good on Tmobile. I had them about 5 years ago and they was pretty good to me. I only switched because I wanted an iPhone and at the time the unlock community didn't come out with a patch. Because of that service I just opened a new line with them for my second phone and so far so good.

This sucks. I don't know why the mobile payment space is so competitive. It would make more sense to me that any retailer would accept as much different sources and methods of payment as possible to make the purchasing user experience as seamless and easy to use as possible.

I feel that Angular changes too much in HTML to be considered useful for long term projects.The new syntax is also disturbing. My ideal MVC for front end utilizes regular javascript and html tags. At most just add data-ang-click="" something like that instead of "(click)" the latter isn't even valid HTML. Sometimes I think Angular is mainly popular because it's supported by Google. If any regular developer made these drastic changes in HTML with non valid tags and attributes people would not be happy with that project.

I know Angular has a lot of community support and I have built some side projects in Angular but I feel now too bloated with having their own standards instead of following normal HTML standards. That's just my 2 cents on it and i'm sure there are a ton of reason to use Angular but I just don't know if I can continue supporting a project that makes so many drastic changes to a standard. I don't want to make it sound like I have Angular hate here but i'm a big vanilla fan and it seems in order to build anything useful in Angular you have to throw out vanilla and use Angular's way even if vanilla is better. On most projects handlebars and correct proper design patterns in code is enough to keep HTML out of javascript and keep basic organization.

I was excited at the start. But then I couldn't figure out where this article was going because it started talking about us going to space and polio.My take on the headline is that I don't believe the OS needs to be rewritten;I think that GUI's and user experience on Linux needs to be redefined.I know we can do better so why don't we do better.

I wonder what this is really about. I think it may be more or less about Twitter trying to bring developers on to expand their developer platform which probably fell flat. I can't speak on other developers but I won't ever build a business on top of Twitter. I would only use their API as a bonus third party integration feature for something like a Marketing SaaS.

I like the Chromecast.I brought 3 when they had a sale at staples for $30/each a few months back. It really is the best value for a TV device that supports Netflix and Youtube that you can control with your phone. I also have been having fun hacking on it the past few months using node.js. I just wish more apps supported it.

I like the concept. Seems like a fun weekend project. I might have to try it someday. Thanks.
