RSS is underrated.
david90··on Show HN: QWANJI

david90··on Elizabeth line testing ways of banishing its "ghosts in the walls"
I prefer they fix the line service instead :D
david90··on Tao Te Ching – Gia-Fu Feng, Jane English Translation (1989)
As a Chinese speaker and reader, this is more readable then the original text :D
david90··on Candle Made with CSS
It reminds me about the classic observations of a candle exercise in science class.
david90··on This word does not exist
It's a digital Shakespeare
david90··on Show HN: Ugliest.app – Ugly but good app platform
I used a hacky way to chunk the photos into 50parts and save them in the tables.
david90··on Show HN: Ugliest.app – Ugly but good app platform
Made a quick photo booth app here: https://ugliest.app/l/586157ce-2924-4cb5-92d5-8bce59c5e40d/c...

The platform is good, but there are something I wanted: 1. Handling queries in js 2. event triggers 3. elements manipulation

david90··on Show HN: Ugliest.app – Ugly but good app platform
I was trying to save a photo there, but it doesn't work due to this update lol
david90··on Show HN: Ugliest.app – Ugly but good app platform
Nice work! How can I call the insert/select/update APIs in JS?
david90··on Twitter seems to be testing an edit feature
Looks like it's just cached text in the text field.
david90··on Show HN: Note Kitchen – Learn piano chords and scales
Nice job! It'd be even better to play the chord with sound
david90··on Ask HN: Best web framework in 2018
Go for backend as a service or serverless: e.g. ReactJs as front end + Skygear (https://skygear.io) as backend

Disclaimer: I work for skygear (it's a opensource project)

david90··on Ask HN: Simple tools/hack for small project management
Not sure if you are working on a software related project or not. One of my favourite tool is GitHub Project Boards

david90··on Nintendo Labo Official Site
I've read through many negative comments on Labo (esp. on other sites) But I think - hey this is amazing as I wished to build things when I was a kid. This inspires kids to create, interact and invent. Making connections to machines or instruments we daily use.

Looking forward to support custom models.

david90··on Google Chromecast and Google Home Causes Wi-Fi Drops
My Chromecast works quite well, at least the connection is quite stable casting from my mobile. 10s wait is kinda acceptable for me. It'd be nice that resolution could improve.
david90··on The Basic Ideas in Neural Networks (1994) [pdf]
This explains the basic ideas really well without messing up with implementations and frameworks.
david90··on Ask HN: Best internal tools your startup built?
We built our own server for apps in Go- turns out open sourcing it (https://github.com/skygeario/skygear-server) . Not really popular yet, but we used it for nearly all our internal projects.
david90··on Ask HN: Have you open sourced your software and still made money?
I think it's your model of operating the software is more then your source. Open source encourage technical knowledge sharing and collaboration work. However it can't replace one's or a company's dedicated effort. Imagine Uber open-sourced, it's as hard as it is to be to replicate it's business and value.

We are working on a software called skygear (https://skygear.io) as well. It's open-sourced from the first day.

david90··on When devops makes a clock
I remember that time when using text files as my database when I did web programming 15+ years ago.

btw can I send a PR to your repo?

david90··on Show HN: Skypad – Simple and Sharable Real-Time Collaborative Notepad
A quick update - Skypad now supports code highlighting! See it live here: https://skygear-demo.github.io/skypad/#a4bdd786-a950-4be2-88...
david90··on Show HN: Skypad – Simple and Sharable Real-Time Collaborative Notepad
Code highlighting sounds really useful. Yet need to improve the collaboration before supporting pair programming perfectly.
david90··on Show HN: Skypad – Simple and Sharable Real-Time Collaborative Notepad
Thanks for the liking the visual. This is a quick hack in an hour to demonstrate how http://skygear.io 's real-time sync and cloud database feature. Yet I am thinking to add more feature to it - markdown support and collaborator marks. Do you have any ideas on that?
david90··on Show HN: Skypad – Simple and Sharable Real-Time Collaborative Notepad
Just fixed, appreciate if you'd try again ;)
david90··on Show HN: Skypad – Simple and Sharable Real-Time Collaborative Notepad
Nice one! It's a hack project for now - but I actually prefer Markdown support and collaborator indicator next.
david90··on Show HN: Skypad – Simple and Sharable Real-Time Collaborative Notepad
It handles both the saving logic and the pubsub logic. You can view the source in app.js . It took me around 2 hours for this quick project.
david90··on Ask HN: Share Your Raspberry Pi Project
We've built a doorlock system with Raspi, note here: https://code.oursky.com/iot-side-project-chima-open-door/ and code here: https://github.com/oursky/doorlock
david90··on SaaS, PaaS and IaaS explained in one graphic
You got me :)
david90··on SaaS, PaaS and IaaS explained in one graphic
The way interpreting PaaS as "user managing the table and soda" actually does not help explaining (in the original version)
david90··on SaaS, PaaS and IaaS explained in one graphic
Author here - I appreciate the 2.0 version adds the concept of "container-as-a-service" and "function-as-a-service" in, as those are really the latest trends. I actually agree on Traditional on-premise deployment and IaaS. But I still find the right hand side 2.0 is not a good abstraction of X-as-a-Service. Reason: The relationship between Conversation / Friends / Beer / Pizza is not as such in SaaS /FaaS / PaaS and CaaS. They do not illustrate a correct hierarchy of customization and abstraction.

Secondly, why does beer mean "scaling"...
