Thanks, agree with everything you said. I have a different layout (just images that I'm working on. I would like to give the user the option to choose which layout they want. As for the images, I don't have much control over whether the pictures have models in them or not. Glad the images were front and center for you. One of the core ideas behind the site is to make it fun to just "window shop."

Hey guys, just wanted to get some feedback on our site. It's not perfect, but it is useful. And I don't think there's anything out there that does what it does. (If I'm wrong, please let me know!) Hope the site is self-explanatory. If not, the http://biggestpricedrop.com/about page should be helpful. I am now trying to move into the marketing phase and it's clearly not my forte. Any tips? I am hoping I can promote this solo without hiring a PR or marketing person. Is that realistic? Should I consider spending serious money to get us out there?
dasong··on Ask HN: Just created price tracking too, does another site like this exist?
http://biggestpricedrop.com

I created the site because I've always wanted to sort through products by how much they've dropped in price (in like the last day or two)... Does anyone know if another site like this exists? I think it's unique because it tracks the deltas of prices. Useful if you want to know what just went on sale. Currently, I get the prices from feeds from the stores but I am working on a scraper to get even faster updates and better in/out of stock data. Is there perhaps another niche where my tool can be used? Real estate? Technology goods (like bensbargains.net? Thanks, any suggestions/feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I created this app because nothing like it existed. I've always wanted to be able to sort products from my favorite online stores by how much each product had dropped in price. I think we're still the only site that does this. Please let me know if this is not true! What are some ways to get exposure? Google has already indexed over 600k of my pages and most of our traffic is organic search. Thanks, any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

I currently get my feeds from XML or flat files from the 3 major affiliate clearing houses. I am writing a scraper that will scrape sites that do not participate in those programs.

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll hide the worst/best price under button that will show that with a graph (Chart.js seems really cool). The category tree is being shown on the product page is not complete yet. I envisioned being able to "uncheck" the category right there if the user kept seeing products from a category that he/she was not interested in.

Some specific questions: Is the site easy to understand and use? If not, what is unclear? Is paid search or PPC ads my next step? Is it usually worth the cost to get discovered faster? Right now, my operating costs are fairly low. Running this on an M3.XLarge EC2 instance. Should I branch out of clothing to tech products? What other niche do you think would benefit from this kind of sorting (real estate?)
