dartharva··on Google ending ChromeOS support two years early
Old Chromebooks can still be salvaged by just installing Linux/FydeOS on them.

These new "googlebooks" (what a name), with their fancy gimmick chips, won't offer the same liberty.

dartharva··on Updated Google Maps shows destruction of the city of Rafah
Have you been living under a rock? The time when "public statements" used to work is long, long gone.
dartharva··on When did Google get so weird?
Google with the `udm=14` URL identifier. You can set it as the default search engine on all browsers, including on mobile.
dartharva··on Sublime Text Build 4213
Are you kidding me!? You can have hundreds, even thousands of tabs of files of any size open in Np++, close without saving, and yet get back instantly on the same session when you start it up next time. Notepad++ is literally faster than Microsoft's own native Notepad, let alone Sublime Text. Even 50GB csv files open instantly in Np++.
dartharva··on Sublime Text Build 4213
>Sublime text is what notepad++ wished to be.

Nonsense statement, Notepad++ has always been superior in every metric

dartharva··on Sublime Text Build 4213
Sublime Text's implementation of LSP is the buggiest and clunkiest I have used in a text editor
dartharva··on Measure internet censorship
...you'd be surprised, plenty of regular people actually want these things to happen. State is God for reliably the majority of the population of the world (seeing as the majority resides in China and South Asia).
dartharva··on US interest rates raised for first time in three years
What you suggesting goes against the foundational and existential code of the United States of America.
dartharva··on Dario, Please
what the fuck is this some kind of an experimental troll LLM post?
dartharva··on Don't be the out of touch Kung Fu master
I mean.. I'd bet he has certainly made a lot more money since AI arrived than he did before
dartharva··on Don't be the out of touch Kung Fu master
> The purpose of the various martial arts isn't just to win in a life-or-death brawl or murder people as efficiently as possible

That's a retroactively-applied justification to save the embarrassment for martial arts that don't make the cut for modern CQB.

dartharva··on We must pace the frontier
That claim looks to be coming from the opposite of Occam's Razor. Them doing typical SV dirty plays is a lot more easier explanation than the straws you are grasping at.
dartharva··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
...you.. do know classic Google Search is still an option, right? Just add `&udm=14` to the search URL.

Also Google AI mode is accessible on google.com/ai.

dartharva··on Claude is no longer available for minors
Compliance theater. Now they can get away without having to bother setting guardrails for child safety.
dartharva··on Rust is tier-1 language at Microsoft
MSVC always was the default backend for Windows platforms.
dartharva··on LibreOffice breaks download records after declaring it has no AI features
Strange, when office suites are the one software category most people are anticipating better AI integration for unlike everything else.

Nobody wants AI in browsers, but an AI that can make me the Powerpoint I want without me having to drag cumbersome items by hand? Yes please.

dartharva··on GPT-6 Astra
Considering that frontier scientists and engineers in the US are currently taking home seven (or even eight, in some cases) figure salaries - pretty high, I'd reckon.
dartharva··on GPT-6 Astra
Labor. Smart labor would be much cheaper I'd reckon in China than in the US.
dartharva··on Hang on to Your Firefox
It's that Firefox occasionally breaks websites because most devs only test and target for Chrome. And that it is now more CPU and RAM-hungry than Chrome.

Also that it is controlled by Mozilla, an org ALLEGEDLY more interested in fringe politics than tech.

dartharva··on Hang on to Your Firefox
Brave is nowhere near as snappy as Chrome and Firefox with all its bloat.
dartharva··on Shein is a global slavery company masquerading as an e-commerce platform
E-Commerce in general is a sector infamous for horrifying treatment of its labor.
dartharva··on Evidence of Fraud in an Influential Study About Procrastination
>The replication crisis in science is real

In psychology, you mean. Many contest if it even qualifies as a science anymore after the complete annihilation of trust it has undergone.

dartharva··on Google Has Removed MV2 Extensions from the Chrome Web Store, Including UBO
I used to be interested in it but ever since they launched Brave Orion it has become clear they intend to actively monetize the free public versions they have been releasing, and the path they're taking with crypto and add-on bloat just feels ickier than most of its competition including Chrome.
dartharva··on Google Has Removed MV2 Extensions from the Chrome Web Store, Including UBO
By that logic you don't really need paper notes either.
dartharva··on Google Has Removed MV2 Extensions from the Chrome Web Store, Including UBO
Severe limits on additional filters, which is bad for people who want it to add more annoyances than it does by default.
dartharva··on Google Has Removed MV2 Extensions from the Chrome Web Store, Including UBO
Most office IT actively blocks it.
dartharva··on Google Has Removed MV2 Extensions from the Chrome Web Store, Including UBO
3. For a significant period of time (that continues to this day) websites were made using only Chrome as the target platform, turning Firefox into an eternal second fiddle that would occasionally break important/work websites.
dartharva··on How to disable or avoid intrusive AI
Zoom might just be the only app in which AI actually has added value for me. For almost everything else, universally, it is an unwanted bloat at best.
dartharva··on India has paved the way for charging merchants a fee on UPI transactions
It fits perfectly literally everywhere on earth, the main challenge is in claiming that the masses can tolerate not being "intoxicated". For all we know religion is an inevitable characteristic of the human species.
dartharva··on India has paved the way for charging merchants a fee on UPI transactions
Do rich farmers really have enough strength in numbers to outvote other populations in India?
