This does not mean that the kernel is guaranteed to have zero bugs. There can be bugs in unverified code (e.g., initialization and glue code), the specification (or things not modeled in the specification), or the verification toolchain including irpy/ and Z3.
With the way the housing market is going, and the upcoming King County property tax hike, I wouldn't be surprised if tech workers started creeping out into Snohomish County and favoring jobs on the Eastside instead of Seattle due to traffic.
I don't believe resilience to censorship on the internet should be a right reserved for the wealthy (or even reserved for networking experts who could build their own AS), but I have yet to reconcile that with the right that private service providers have to turn down customers (and it goes without saying that this particular website will not be missed). I wonder if a non-profit hosting provider that was bound by its constitution to host any legal content for anyone that could pay could be successful.
I was not in the least bit surprised that what followed this disclaimer was by and large the same tired anti-Bitcoin arguments we've all been reading since 2010. Not to mention the title is a gross exaggeration and undoubtedly fishing for angry clicks.
The worst part is there's a nugget of truth hidden amongst this FUD: the danger of ICOs and other varieties of altcoin scams. There's really no value being created when yet another coin is created that's just an existing coin with a new PoW algorithm stapled on, yet the creator stands to make tens of thousands off of his or her 2% premine, because of people speculating that this might be the Next Big Coin.
For this reason, I think the cryptocurrency market is definitely in a speculative bubble. But so what? So is Silicon Valley. Is a Wi-Fi enabled plant waterer really worth $30 million in VC funding? Probably not, but that doesn't mean the Dropboxes and the AirBnBs of the market aren't adding value. The abundance of worthless altcoins doesn't mean the cryptocurrency market as a whole is worthless, but it does mean you should be careful what you invest in.

What's funny is that using a VPN or tunnel to which CL has a good connection resolves the issue, because the VPN/tunnel host has better peering than CL does.
The difference between Panic's anecdote and mine, is that CenturyLink support won't even acknowledge the issue exists.

Should also mention Blink, the softphone. Looks and works better than Linphone (in the offical repos) in my experience.
If you've ever seen an English-language page on a Japanese website that used weird quotes, this is probably why.
The only way to complete MyMathLab homework is to pay out for a poorly-written Flash app.
It really astounded me that we had to pay a third-party for-profit company to get access to our homework.
I think people have forgotten the origin of John Gilmore's famous quote, "The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it." He wasn't talking about the people of the internet (though I believe he later said it wouldn't be wrong to interpret it that way), but the way the Usenet network would find a way to pass messages across the network, even when some Usenet node operators decided there were messages they didn't want to pass.
Those who do not learn their history...
He managed to stream video across VMs by doing a similar cache timing trick, which brought a round of applause from the crowd. Very cool stuff.
For shared HTTPS hosting (1 IP serving multiple domains), SNI (the domain) is sent in cleartext so the server can pick which configuration to use (SSL cert, etc). For sites that don't use SNI, they can still see you browsed there because without SNI, 1 IP = 1 domain.

To use the author's example:
woman - 1 codepoint
black woman - 2 codepoints, woman + dark Fitzpatrick modifier
️woman kissing woman - 7 codepoints, woman + ZWJ + heart + ZWJ + kissy lips + ZWJ + woman
It's like composing Mayan pictographs, except you have to include an invisible character in between each component.
Here's another fun one: country flags. Unicode has special characters 🇱 🇮 🇰 🇪 🇹 🇭 🇮 🇸 that you can combine into country codes to create a flag. 🇰+🇷 = 🇰🇷
edit: looks like HN strips emoji? Changed the emoji in the example into English words. They are all supposed to render as a single "character".
