danyim··on Claude Fable produced a counterexample to the Jacobian Conjecture
Must be that LLMs are just as suspicious of humans as some us are of them.
danyim··on CSS-Native Parallax Effect
Same observation here, but Chrome on iOS
danyim··on How I use Claude Code: Separation of planning and execution
Thanks for sharing this method - such an elegant way to add annotations to generated specs!
danyim··on IKEA Symfonisk Gen2 Amp Modification Guide – A Much Cheaper Sonos Amp
Could you expand on this? What do you mean by the "existing speaker lines"?
danyim··on Rewriting LaTeX in Pure Rust
Why link to a fork instead of the main project? https://github.com/tectonic-typesetting/tectonic
danyim··on Soft Skills for Managers
Could you share some examples?
danyim··on How to Buy a Private Jet
Just curious—do you have an estimate for the actual operating costs? What does jet fuel go for and how much high are maintenance costs?
danyim··on Smart TVs Track More Than What’s on Tonight
I think the point the GP is making is that users who use TV as merely displays and not connected to the internet cannot have access to this data, whereas connected TVs can send whatever fingerprinted data they want back home.
danyim··on Ask HN: Developers, how do you keep SSH and web URLs organized at work?
Brew == homebrew, and it’s mainly for macOS
danyim··on CSS Micro Reset
What a joke. Where’s box-sizing: border-box, the most common reset of all? Is this another JS engineer seeking Github stars?
danyim··on Ask HN: I started a company in Japan but I'm in over my head
I know you’re trying to help, but I think saying empty, insincere platitudes like “we all enjoy you here” doesn’t really help them or the situation. It certainly didn’t help to hear that from strangers when I was in a similar position.
danyim··on Why does vietnamese immigration have groups of travelers on same approval letter
I went straight to the embassy in SF and it was done in a couple days.
danyim··on Show HN: Domain Wheel – Domain and company name generator
Broken on mobile. Tried a single word and it displayed a blank block of text.
danyim··on “Startup” asks internship applicant to build their app before phone screen
I agree, this is the right way to compensate for work that can potentially be used in production as a means of interviewing the candidate.

I faced something similar to the OP and posted the results on Workplace https://workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/88138/working-...

danyim··on [dead]
Non paywalled link please? Or did they remove this feature
danyim··on Ask HN: What are some of the best job boards you have seen (any industry)?
I've been trying out this platform for a few weeks as a job seeker, and the only listings hat are sent my way are corporate positions. Are there any plans to add startups?
danyim··on Silicon Valley Women, in Cultural Shift, Frankly Describe Sexual Harassment
I believe Meyer was implying that while being a female founder is hard enough, her being a non-white minority makes it even more difficult due to racism.
danyim··on Silicon Valley Women, in Cultural Shift, Frankly Describe Sexual Harassment
I agree, the grandparent comment is not contributing to the discussion by disagreeing with every point without providing any meaningful counterpoint.
danyim··on Travis Kalanick Resigns as Uber CEO
It's about time. Although I feel sorry that this transition had to come at difficult period of time for him, but this shake up for Uber was long due.
danyim··on Show HN: Enlight – Learn to Code by Building Projects
I love the design of the site. It's very clean and seems like a great resource for beginners looking to start building a portfolio. As a seasoned web dev, it's easy to see the amount of effort involved for each project, but I wonder if it would be useful to label the projects by difficulty.
danyim··on Options vs. Cash
Did you mean to say the odds of striking it rich are nowhere close to a lottery in a favorable or unfavorable light?
danyim··on Show HN: Real-time notes app built with Vue.js, inspired by Notational Velocity
The app looks really well put together. I went as far as creating an account until I realized it unusable on mobile--I need to hit control + enter to create a note.
danyim··on Ask HN: Take-home project interview results == Final step?
I agree. I wouldn't mind another take home assignment that was a meaningless project that they would discard, but they are asking me to essentially do some work for free.

I ended up sending an email of my concerns and am wiling to forego this opportunity if needed.

danyim··on Ask HN: Does reading code actually make you a better developer?
Short answer, yes. Long answer: Learning how to read other people's code will help your literacy of the language and you may even learn a new trick along the way. It might seem like an arduous task now, but as you get into the habit of reading more code, you'll be able to recognize patterns and processes much faster thereby improving your velocity.

danyim··on Appreciating Art with Algorithms
Your account of walking through the SF MOMA and being mesmerized by the possibility of turning the art into algorithms exactly mirrors my experience. I too wondered if there was a way to develop Chuck Close's mosaics with some image manipulation, but for small project I instead focused on interpreting Sol LeWitt's wall drawings as code first.

Here's a shameless plug of a very rudimentary React/WebCanvas project I've been working on: http://artgorithms.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/

danyim··on Fury in Cambodia as US asks to be paid back hundreds of millions in war debts
It's a shame that America (and possibly other first world countries) punish developing countries for not bending to their will. With the massive amount influence that the US has on the world, it's hard not to imagine that we've become the global mafia by demanding payment--however unjust or in bad taste--in exchange for economic and military protection.
danyim··on An Introduction to GraphQL via the GitHub API
This is something I've observed and would be curious to know too.
