damptrousers··on Why Bootstrap might be very important
It's difficult to believe this many people actually still listen to dave winer. He's done, old, and irrelevant. Sad to see people still listen to his drivel.
damptrousers··on An open challenge to PandoDaily
Oh god. Stop with the hero worship. The guy is a verified lunatic living off a legacy that he helped build. If you'd stop kissing his ass for one minute you might see what a whacko he's become.
damptrousers··on Path gets a pass? Why?
It's going to be low, because of the app itself. Seriously, if you've never used the app you might want to educate yourself before making such statements.

Limiting the number of possible friends means a smaller network, and a smaller user base.

That you "personally" don't use it means nothing.

damptrousers··on Path gets a pass? Why?
Dead in the water? I sure wish we could make a bet on that.
damptrousers··on Path uploads your entire iPhone address book to its servers
Lawyer? God, get a fucking grip. No wonder companies treat their users like morons.
damptrousers··on AT&T Throttling Unlimited Plans after 2GB Data Use
So it starts throttling at a half gig later? And you have to deal with crappy phones? Great deal you got there.
damptrousers··on It’s too late for Dave Winer and John Battelle to save the common web
Hey responded because you insulted him. Of course, you were right. Enough people hate dave winer that RSS does need a new face, but you, like a lot of writers, backed down when confronted with him. You should have stuck to your guns, because you were right.
damptrousers··on It’s too late for Dave Winer and John Battelle to save the common web
Ridiculous to even consider? What a ridiculous thing to say. There's plenty of other ways to stay in touch. You're using facebook, as is your friend. Don't pretend that without it you're out of the loop. It may take a little effort at first, but you could do it. Hyperbole doesn't help anyone.
damptrousers··on 700,000 Android devices activated each day
Nonsense. We've been hearing apple is screwed for 10 years now. That's idiotic. Apple doesn't have to own the market, and if you believe the Galaxy S is going to convert iPhone fans, you're nuts.
damptrousers··on Evernote: Company of the Year
No, it's still the same. Ugly, slow, and bloated.
damptrousers··on Evernote: Company of the Year
"For flights, I store all my itinerary information, and also make a note of the parking location in a special note. Never forget that way. I have a note for all my emergency contact information. I have a notebook for date ideas for my wife and I."

Again, you could do this in simplenote /notational velocity. You're using a sledgehammer to do really simple tasks.

damptrousers··on Evernote: Company of the Year
Yep, great concept. You can do this without evernote, and you can do this with apps that do a much better job of allowing you to get stuff out. Evernote did not create the ability to do this. You are very confused.
damptrousers··on Why are you using Google Plus for Blogging?
"And so what if Google can use my posts to learn more about me and give me more targetted ads? I just see that as a win on my side once again"

Wow, so mind numbingly scary.

damptrousers··on This Site’s Domain is Stolen
1and1 is a terrible. Please do not listen to individual accounts of 'no problems'. If you do have a problem, you will be in trouble. 1and1 is a giant company that makes money by quantity, not quality. In other words, the majority will have no problem, so let's have millions of customers and screw those that have problems. Again, there's too many other good companies to use such a crappy company.
damptrousers··on Path just evolved with an entirely revamped product
I'm guessing you have no idea what Path is. It's for sharing with close friends or family. Family, in general, is interested in knowing what's up with other members. That isn't narcissism. This isn't facebook. Please stop with this whole narcissism crap when one, you don't understand the app, and two, you're on a website SHARING your opinion.
damptrousers··on Path just evolved with an entirely revamped product
I used the app for 5 minutes and I could write a thousand words on why it's better already. Honestly, if you can't see the differences, the quality compared to facebook, the difference in attitudes towards privacy, I don't think you can be helped.
damptrousers··on Apple acquired mind-blowing 3D mapping company C3 Technologies
If you actually used a well known GPS app on the iPhone, you'd realize how ridiculous your Siri comparison is.
damptrousers··on Apple acquired mind-blowing 3D mapping company C3 Technologies
It's a serious omission, yet everyone you know seems happy on the iPhone, and the couple that switched didn't even know about turn by turn directions on Android. Doesn't seem serious at all. (by the way, I know plenty of people that have iPhones, and the vast majority do have 3rd party GPS apps. The rest have no use for them.)

I agree with a previous commentator, this omission has been overblown. Yes, it will be nice when iOS comes with a turn by turn app that integrates with the whole iPhone. But if you want one now, you can buy one that works great.

damptrousers··on Apple acquired mind-blowing 3D mapping company C3 Technologies
I have no idea. When I start having problems with finding businesses, or if it takes me to closed businesses, I'll worry about it. So far, in over 2 years using the app, I've not had problems.
damptrousers··on Apple acquired mind-blowing 3D mapping company C3 Technologies
I don't get the comparison. I use Navigon on my iPhone. I travel extensively. It's been 99.9 percent perfect. As good if not better than stand alone GPS devices. I understand how it's nice to have it built into Android, not having to pay for a separate app, but turn by turn directions either work or don't work. And I use them every day.

I'll be more than happy when Apple builds it in, but until then, I've more than happy, and it's certainly not enough to make me look at switching to Android, even if it never happened.
