Im replying to a comment that says it should be taxed on revenue.

I really dont think the problem has gotten worse, its just more visible. The previous status quo didnt work either, you just didnt hear as much about it because there weren't commercials.

In all reality, the NASDAQ does the entire yearly turnover Klashi and Polymarket combined in a few minutes. It hasnt become as big of a problem as people make it out, but its still a problem.

But there's no going back to the status quo with 1990s methods of enforcement. Everyone knows how to use crypto and VPNs, you'd just be pushing people into shady offshore.

There's a reason why most businesses don't hire PhDs, they dont need it. PhDs are cheap in many countries, arguably more affordable than a full time mythos lvl agent, yet businesses in India still don't hire 30k a year PhDs to run their businesses. Its simply not necessary. AI labs have lost the plot from a business perspective. If chasing ASI is the goal, that also seems stupid.. Putting all of your customers out of business with ASI doesn't really lead to great outcomes either.

They're commodity fetishism maxxing.

Yeah not sure why everyone thinks they need a PhD lvl assitant to build their slop SaaS when an open source model that is 100x cheaper, and 3x faster and arguably still "PhD" level assitant could also build their slop SaaS.

Couldn't you just download cursor, not even pay for any account and hook up an Anthropic api key and get that functionality?

I dont know how cursor works. Everytime ive tried to use, its super buggy and has memory leaks that make my very quite PC sound like a jet engine.

You can't tax revenue in sports gambling markets, it actually just leads to predatory gambling products with massive vig/house edge. This was attempted in Tennessee. Margins are extermely low sports betting, like 4.5%. Its actually a loss leader typically. So for casinos that only have this type of wagering it taxes like this aren't going to work. A casino might turn over 50 billion yearly but only have a 2.5% edge in sports betting but you're proposing we tax them on the 50 billion. It doesnt work.

It will either push them out of business, or they'll find a way to screw the player to increase margin through even more deceptive products.

If the legal entity can't operate because of a tax on revenue than illegal offshore entities will gladly take their place and do.

The only solution really is sharia law, a complete ban and harsh punsihments for all operators and customers. I say this ironically but it actually is really the only solution, and even this doesnt work entirely.

dakolli··on Overcooked? Why robotic pizza makers are failing
I prefer when people employ their fellow neighbors and uplift their community with their enterprises.

This type of automation is inherently selfish and should be discouraged, im glad he lost 200k, that 200k could have been used to help employee a few college students who would go onto provide way more value to their community than a robot ever would.

Honestly if you see a company with robots like this, they hate their communities and are inherently selfish and greedy. Do not support them.

dakolli··on AI Engineer Notebooks – free, framework-free RAG/agents/evals on Colab
This is pretty basic stuff, just build a bunch of tools with any openAI compatible api and you'll get good. I think stuff like this is kinda overcomplicating simple problems. "Framework free", bruh its just jsonRPC for the most part.

This was probably made to show off for an interview or something, hence why they're throwing throwing around the term "FDE" so much. Its meant to impress a very specific type of person (gullible managers).

dakolli··on Saving 100 terabytes of memory by optimizing 1.1.1.1's DNS cache

dakolli··on Show HN: My Claude quota ran out in 10 minutes, so I made a tool to find out why
Why not juat write the code. Its not that much faster to produce good code with AI. I spend nearly identical amoubts of time reviewing AI code as it would take to write. Im honestly not convinced there is all that much of a productivity boost, maybe 20% faster.

The president who helped kil 15k children? Why do you miss him, he should be in the jail cell next to trump.
dakolli··on GLM-5.3-Flash
They're obviously in a pickle, nobody is going to continue to pay $15-50 a mm tokens here soon. There's a reason OpenAI stopped training large models last week, and it's not because of "saftey" or "alignment" they know these gigantic models are not worth the squeeze.
dakolli··on GLM-5.3-Flash
I didn't accept a single edit from this model over the entire week, just saying. I do not understand how it's being benchmarked on par with Sol and other larger models.
dakolli··on New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra
Yeah, that's who Apple is making these for fucking Santa and his Elves lmfao
dakolli··on New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra
How much would is the cost for that machine though, I'm pretty sure I could just buy tokens from a provider and never run out of money for 10 years, and get far better quality output because inference is being served by professionals on far better hardware and this machine would be obsolete long before that as well. Hosting local seems like a possibly the dumbest thing you could possibly do from an economics perspective. And don't hit me with the privacy argument because everyone saying they care about privacy uses fucking gmail, whatsapp and instagram all day long.
dakolli··on I were 17, I'd learn how to build LLMs from scratch
Yeah he's a moron with a lot of money, that's about it. I'm sure he's said the same thing about various other bags he had bets on throughout the years.
dakolli··on I were 17, I'd learn how to build LLMs from scratch
What the fuck does this guy know about? I'm sure if we went back through similar statements he's said over the years he's said the same thing about various technologies that are no longer relevant. The guy is a talentless hack who larps as a blogger and his only "redeeming" quality is having lots of money.

Owner of Golf Club Company says I should dedicate my life to golf lmfao.

dakolli··on Anthropic's best AI model struggles to attract users as cheaper tools thrive
You could just write decent specs, or generate decent specs and get this done in 1/5th of the time with smaller models. Complete waste of electricity to run $500k in GPUs full throttle, if not more, for 18 hours straight to migrate from spark to pandas. Maybe try using your brain.
dakolli··on DeepSeek-v4-flash-vision-exp
I think you're thinking of Dario saying this about image generation.
dakolli··on DeepSeek-v4-flash-vision-exp
I typically provide small screenshots to llms so this seems fine for that usecase, providing an entire screens context seems cause confusion with a lot of llms.

Actually that's mostly just the military funding those, with a few of them having data center partnerships so they can shield themselves from the criticism of what they really are: military contractors.

off of one historical price change, no.
dakolli··on DeepSeek API Pricing Update
I've always been curious about who works on software pricing. Do you guys hire actuaries for this type of work?
dakolli··on DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813
psst.. they all do. Also, what kind of IP are you protecting, are you protecting some crazy discovery, nothing you're throwing at them is special, they aren't going to steal your CRUD pomodora app.

If anything Deepseek is the only company I'd want to consent to training on my data, they're by far the most altruistic. Atleast they give back all their IP in the form of research and open source weights. It's not like they're hoarding your data for them to make money, they're basically giving everything out for free. The only reason you even have the option of waiting for another provider is because they release weights.

They're releasing all their IP, which is a trillion times more valuable than anything you're providing, you people are just greedy and oddly self centered.

dakolli··on AI doesn't generate working products, that's still your job
They aren't that great, they can be helpful, but they mostly make lazy people seem and feel less lazy. Maybe that's you? Maybe that's me as well, idk, but when you look close, these things can easily cause more problems than they solve (more often than not ime). No I'm not holding it wrong, I got more token consumption than most here probably, I have access to all the models, unlimited, I'm not that impressed.

I've personally seen the consequences of someone who naively thought these tools could help them execute on their ideas and I wouldn't be surprised if they end up in prison because of it.

dakolli··on AI doesn't generate working products, that's still your job
Someone please tell this to my clients.
