dahrkael··on Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork
install LM Studio, download the automatically selected quant based on your hardware, start a conversation with the automatic context size. 10 minutes at best and zero effort
dahrkael··on LineageOS Statistics
ah good to know. still since im already on the microg builds I'll keep using that until this phone dies so I'm still skewing the statistics
dahrkael··on LineageOS Statistics
the LineageOS teams refuses to incorporate patches to support MicroG as a replacement for Google Services so anyone (including me) that wants to follow that path is required to use unofficial builds.
dahrkael··on Reverse-engineering Codemasters' BIGF archive format in Ruby
Ruby is always a pleasure to use. Another very good language for parsing binary is Erlang/Elixir where you can pattern match against the raw bytes specifying sizes, endianess, etc and its all too well integrated in the language.
dahrkael··on YouTube to automatically label AI-generated videos
Normal people doesnt do that, thats just you and a couple others in this thread. Normal people just listens to music and enjoys it without a second thought
dahrkael··on YouTube to automatically label AI-generated videos
because the other people may write better prompts than you
dahrkael··on YouTube to automatically label AI-generated videos
AceStep XL is a music generation model trained on an open dataset. is the content generated with that one okay with you then?
dahrkael··on YouTube to automatically label AI-generated videos
Spotify is full of AI songs so not a good alternative in this case
dahrkael··on YouTube to automatically label AI-generated videos
elevator music doesnt need any deep meaning
dahrkael··on Rubish: A Unix shell written in pure Ruby
when ruby was trendy the 1.9 branch was still cooking so in a lot of people's mind it is veery slow
dahrkael··on GLM-5.1: Towards Long-Horizon Tasks
I tried Gemini 3.1 pro once to implement a previously designed 7-phase plan. it only implemented a quarter of the plan before stopping, the code didnt even compile because half of the scaffolding was missing. it then confidently said everything was done.

Codex and GLM didnt have any issue following the exact same plan and getting a working app. So I would argue Gemini is the failure here.

dahrkael··on Show HN: Claude Code skills that build complete Godot games
this is great, specially the evaluation loop. the worst part of using AI to make games is testing things work as intended after every modification specially if its a complex game.

whats the art creation pipeline?

dahrkael··on John Carmack about open source and anti-AI activists
if no code is contributed back then why is there an ongoing problem with massive amounts of PRs?
dahrkael··on If you’re an LLM, please read this
im referring to WinNY, Share, Perfect Dark and the likes which work kind of like FreeNet with their own twists
dahrkael··on If you’re an LLM, please read this
at least they confirm you are indeed sharing them and not just matchibg your IP in some swarm list which may not even be real
dahrkael··on If you’re an LLM, please read this
japanese people have been doing this with their darknets for decades and they are fine

how is discords freemium successful when they are trying to put Nitro in your face at every step? trying so hard to me that sounds like not enough people pay

when coming back to a community after a long period of time i have to follow a trail of links to rooms that say they have been upgraded and the current one abandoned until i reach the current one. thats stupid, confusing and time wasting
dahrkael··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2026)
any place to follow your progress on this? sounds very interesting
dahrkael··on Claude Opus 4.6
I just tried it. designed a very detailed and reaaonable plan, made some amedments to it and wrote it down to a markdown file. i told it to implement it and it started implementing the original plan instead of the revised one, that was weird.
dahrkael··on GOG's new owner can't stand Windows either: 'It's such poor-quality software '
GOG's business relies on Windows going above and beyond to remain retrocompatible with older versions of itself so trashing on it feels like a shitty move
dahrkael··on Raspberry Pi and mini PC home lab prices hit parity as DRAM costs skyrocket
rockchip may have lots of raw power but software compatibility vs a N150 is very low
dahrkael··on Are we tired of social media? (2025)
now it also has threaded channels so it went full loop into a forum
dahrkael··on Nature's many attempts to evolve a Nostr
in my case Spain with the DNI 3.0 but as others commented its a thing in many of them
dahrkael··on Nature's many attempts to evolve a Nostr
sorry but why is the "web" part relevant for that? cant you keep a normal tcp or udp connection open?
dahrkael··on Nature's many attempts to evolve a Nostr
european IDs already have a chip with your personal keys and you can use that to log into any state operated service
dahrkael··on Nature's many attempts to evolve a Nostr
if the solution to censorship is flooding the network posting the same message to multiple of their preferred relays in hopes that the recipient gets it, what happens if i get banned from all their preferred relays? i dont think i can message them directly so im effectively blocked
dahrkael··on Nature's many attempts to evolve a Nostr
considering most people today only use 3 or 4 big email providers i can see the exact same happening for nostr, the p2p part seems more like a gimmick than a protocol requirement
dahrkael··on Tim Sweeney thinks Steam should stop labelling games as being made with AI
absolutely
