daft_pink··on Flipper One – we need your help
I hope they let you disable the 6ghz wifi easily as Wifi 6E without the band steering of wifi 7 just gives you low range 6ghz which is a waste on a device that probably doesn’t need a high speed connection.

Love my flipper zero!

daft_pink··on Google's Antigravity Bait and Switch
It’s like Google Reader all over again. Because of all these changes, I had to cancel my Google Workspace Ultra plan and switch to a personal developer ultra plan to use Antigravity on a subscription basis, but I still have to use gemini webchat on the workspace, because there is no way to get total privacy from the individual plan. At least they prorate the cancellation and credit the unused time period.
daft_pink··on I’ve joined Anthropic
Looks like they sprinkled their ipo money on him.
daft_pink··on Microsoft surprises with its first server Linux distribution: Azure Linux 4.0
Thanks. I misunderstood that they are talking about Azure container linux and not Azure Linux 4.0 which will use Fedora's package manager.
daft_pink··on Iran starts Bitcoin-backed ship insurance for Hormuz strait
I see. I misunderstood
daft_pink··on Microsoft surprises with its first server Linux distribution: Azure Linux 4.0
I don’t really follow what they mean by no package manager. If you’re developing, won’t you need JavaScript or python or elixir or rust or go? This whole thing just run containers and your container still has to run some other distribution?
daft_pink··on US bill proposes new national EV tax, while some push to slash gas tax to zero
I think the biggest problem is that EVs and hybrids travel less total miles on the road due to their nature, so it should be an odometer based price based on actual usage not a punitive high dollar amount compared to a gas vehicle.
daft_pink··on Iran starts Bitcoin-backed ship insurance for Hormuz strait
I’m not convinced that bitcoin is stable enough to use in insurance products. The currency volatility risk is too high to reasonably cover the covered losses which will need to be covered in some other currency to do things like replace boats etc.
daft_pink··on Russia is starting to lose ground in Ukraine
When the war started, I would carefully watch the news and be excited when they would say something like Himars will change the war, etc.

Now I’m just convinced it is all propaganda and I blocked those YouTubers from my feed.

daft_pink··on Travelers on Air Force One ordered to throw away gifts, phones after China trip
I wonder if Tim Cook supplied burner phones.
daft_pink··on “Too dangerous to release” or just too expensive?
It’s obvious that this is a campaign to pump their pending ipo. It may be too expensive, but it’s all about the ipo in my opinion.
daft_pink··on Operation: Epic Furious
It’s the easiest way to make money!
daft_pink··on Gmail registration now requires scanning a QR code and sending a text message
His point was just that many business users can only purchase Google’s solution or Microsoft’s solution, because they’re the only services that will offer interoperability with many other security and compliance services and advanced functionality like SSO, third party email scanning, compliance journaling etc. The email market is essentially a duopoly as soon as you need any functionality beyond basic email.
daft_pink··on A.I. note takers are making lawyers nervous
If you are in a trusted industry like finance or healthcare, the popular ones generally have industry wide privacy certification like HIPAA compliant, SOC 2 Type 2 etc.
daft_pink··on Meta Shuts Down End-to-End Encryption for Instagram Messaging
I just think that it makes a lot more sense for interoperable technologies like sms and email, where messages are transmitted between providers and isn’t as crucial for single provider technologies where you should trust the provider. It’s instagram for gods sake. It’s just a bunch of people shooting their shot. DMs aren’t even the point of the service.
daft_pink··on Using Claude Code: The unreasonable effectiveness of HTML
I think the problem is that plain text is very easy to read and markdown is essentially plain text.
daft_pink··on Meta Shuts Down End-to-End Encryption for Instagram Messaging
I'm not sure the value of end to end encryption for proprietary application chats. For emails and SMS messages, your messages are being sent between different multiple servers on the open internet and it opens you up to spying, but end to end encryption on instagram is only protecting your chats from Meta.

I find the end to end encryption on Facebook to be detrimental to ease of use, because you always have to use a pin code, etc for the web interface.

If you don't trust meta with your chats, you probably shouldn't be using their application to begin with.

daft_pink··on Agents can now create Cloudflare accounts, buy domains, and deploy
Is it possible to block the agents from deleting domains? I’m comfortable with the risks of everything else, but I don’t want to give ai unfettered access to my cloudflare accounts because I don’t want to give it the ability to remove or delete domains.
daft_pink··on HashiCorp co-founder says GitHub 'no longer a place for serious work'
The main question is what is the best alternative??
daft_pink··on Ghostty is leaving GitHub
It's odd. I've been having the same feeling as well. Earlier this week, they sent that email about copilot, which I don't use but pay $10 a month for and I canceled my subscription.
daft_pink··on Show HN: A terminal spreadsheet editor with Vim keybindings
It’s really amazing how spreadsheet started in the terminal and have come full circle back to the terminal.

This is fantastic thanks for your work

daft_pink··on GoDaddy gave a domain to a stranger without any documentation
I'm only using SOC II compliant vendors from now on.
daft_pink··on Former Israeli intelligence agents from Unit 8200 hired by Apple
Why wouldn’t Apple hire highly skilled highly qualified people?
daft_pink··on F-35 is built for the wrong war
I just wanna say that it’s not realistic to think that the United States defending Taiwan is anything but a bluff. Westerners aren’t willing to die for a small crummy island a few hundred miles off the coast of China that’s 5000 miles away for most other western countries. It’s just not practical. They will sanction China and make it a pariah state if they invade and call it a day. The idea that we would actually risk our lives or nuclear war to defend them is ridiculous.
daft_pink··on Tesla tells HW3 owner to 'be patient' after 7 years of waiting for FSD
I think the government is going to have to get involved for FSD from any manufacturer to actually take place.
daft_pink··on Scan your website to see how ready it is for AI agents
I think this is worth typing a random website into or your website to see it’s analysis.

I’m not really interested in my website being ai ready, but it’s particularly fascinating to me that they are suggesting and interface for ai agents to make payments to secure access to an api.

Generally, when I want to pay for an api, it would be really wonderful to be able to just direct an ai to setup the account and get me some credentials.

daft_pink··on German Dog Commands
Do they have other languages? My dog is an immigrant and it would be nice to use his native language.
daft_pink··on Cloudflare Email Service
I’m really just curious how they guard against prompt injection. Otherwise this seems awesome.
daft_pink··on Does Gas Town 'steal' usage from users' LLM credits to improve itself?
Sounds like a good way to support open source. Would you support open source by donating tokens to improve the product? I definitely would!
daft_pink··on The FCC just saved Netgear from its router ban for no obvious reason
It seems very obvious that they are probably going to give router companies that have an okay or above reputation time to comply with the law and cheap Chinese imports where they obviously have a strong relationship with the Chinese government or any sort of questionable reputation immediate ban.
