I find, when searching for info on a relatively uncommon bug DDG will give me a page that starts with a relevant stackoverflow answer then continues on to list a bunch of sites that scrape SO and repost the content. It's extremely annoying.

Edit: Looks really cool though! Maybe I can find a windows machine to give it a try on.
> Correction: An earlier version of this article said the vulnerability exploited by the hackers who broke into Equifax was the one disclosed on Sep. 4. It’s possible that the vulnerability that was targeted was one disclosed in March. We will update this post when we’ve confirmed which vulnerability it was.
They launched the android version not too long ago. This is probably just a push to get the word out to people who may not have heard. Fair enough in my opinion.
> From my history I guess
I don't think it's from your history. It seems like many common websites are preset to autocomplete; stackoverflow.com for example. Because it doesn't save history this seems like a nice way to reduce friction for users. I could be wrong though.
As for Verizon not blocking the number without charging you. Why not just switch?
[edit]
It looks like the site doesn't get such a large number of people very often and the CPU load is getting too high to hear anything clearly. For clearer audio of the buzzer check here:

I'm not sure how Package Control handles removals of packages but if they are left installed in sublime then this was probably the best move.
If the package was left "orphaned" in the editor the telemetry would remain but I'm pretty sure PC updates packeges automatically by default so pushing an update without it makes sure the code is removed for most users.
tl;dr for that is basically:
Kite has been collecting "anonymous" data from sublime users with the SideBarEnhancements plugin installed. This has been happening for atleast a year and the data collected included activeNonBundledPackageNames which is basically a list of packages installed via Package Control.
It seems they were intentionally unclear about who the data was sent to and did not think to remove it from the plugin after the Atom Minimap incedent because:

Well it's not exactly a novel idea. China, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Turkey and others have implemented bans or heavy restrictions for quite some time now.
>> The function is system sustaining, it is to contain that overall system, and you don't look at the particular cost. I could demonstrate to you that every single bank robbery, that in every single case, practically. The cost of the police was more than the actually money that robbers took from the bank. Does that mean OH you see theres no really no economic interest involved then. They're not protecting the banks, the police are just doing this because they're on a power trip, or they're macho, or ah they're control freaks, that's why they do it. NO of course it's an economic, of course they're defending the banks, of course, because if they didn't stop that bank robbery, regardless of the cost, this could jeopardize the entire banking system. You see there are people who believe the function of the police is to fight crime, and that's not true, the function of the police is social control and protection of property.
It's not about an end all be all it's about keeping it in check.
It's so common in fact that I'd be willing to bet the author lives or lived in NYC and you have some relationship with "up state". :)
That app, ironically enough, is a major reason I'm not on FB today. When I got home and installed the standard app (at 3xx MB) and immediately felt like I was tricked into installing bloated adware. It ate my data up (comparatively) and provided me with little to no extra features beyond a prettier UI. More ads, more analytics, more shitty newsfeed clutter. I uninstalled it and haven't been back to FB since :)
