cyberpunk0··on Ways to Bring Tech Jobs to Rural Areas
Maryland is a pretty rich state, spoiled by military and government connections. It is a poor choice to use as a baseline for the entire nation when plenty of rural areas are still barely scaping by economically and in terms of access to the Internet. Raising the baseline ability of our communications networks is anything but a terrible economic investment, the fact that you cite Netflix shows your focus is only on the short term. I challenge you to look beyond your short sightedness, once people have had their fill with the benefits to media consumption afforded by higher bandwidth connections, and into the future where such connections will be necessary as our infrastructure and information expand in the decades to come
cyberpunk0··on Bullshit Jobs and the Labourisation of Work
LinkedIn is one of the worst data sellers out there. No reason to keep it if you care about privacy
cyberpunk0··on Millennials Didn’t Kill the Economy. The Economy Killed Millennials
Maybe because they have been preyed upon since birth by corporations, advertising, and media, shit on by the previous generations and perpetually viewed as children incapable of thinking and acting for themselves. "Maybe it's not the people that are sick... Maybe it's their environment." - Dave Chapelle
cyberpunk0··on The greatest sales deck I've ever seen (2016)
Please describe how Spotify and Netflix offer these lifetime price one-time purchase options.. quite well hidden in their exclusively subscription pricing
cyberpunk0··on Mondelez cuts ties with 12 palm oil suppliers, citing deforestation

cyberpunk0··on Show HN: Sourcegraph extension API alpha
Looks like a good time to jump in :) I've always been interested in playing around with sourcegraph, been saving for a little home server upgrade to run some projects!
cyberpunk0··on What Economists Still Don’t Get About the 2008 Crisis
The history of economic thought is oppression and greed. Time and Time again.
cyberpunk0··on Learning Dexterity
Not always but a lot of machine learning techniques now are effectively just brute forcing and highly expensive band wasteful to compute. Machine learning is getting close but I don't believe we will get there with our current methods
cyberpunk0··on [dead]
Because the wild meat I eat would decimate your plants and other parts of the ecosystem if they are not quelled each season.
cyberpunk0··on Why is history always about humans?
Why is history always about wealthy humans?*

Because history is written by the victor and most of those with wealth and power have historically exploited and destroyed everyone around them to obtain their position.

cyberpunk0··on Tariffs China imposes on every country
The economy is an abstract system. A better economy != a better world or quality of life for it's citizens.
cyberpunk0··on More Screen Time for Teens Linked to ADHD Symptoms

cyberpunk0··on Evolutionary algorithm outperforms deep-learning machines at video games
Uhhhh no..
cyberpunk0··on The seeming irrationality of a well-tuned emotional system
For all of that theory crafting you forget the person holding you at gunpoint is emotional as well and would just shoot you for having ruined their chance to get money. What use are you to them at all now?
cyberpunk0··on U.S. companies in China think the government is already messing with them
Our govts we're never not facist?
cyberpunk0··on NZ Court of Appeal Upholds Kim Dotcom Extradition Decision to the US
You're right we download high quality mp3 and videos, because as much as people prop up Netflix and Spotify they fall far short of having a quality library to browse, Spotify less so. Netflix tends to replace what quality shows with more and more junk each update
cyberpunk0··on How to crawl a quarter billion webpages in 40 hours (2012)
Everyone gets to crawl. The net should have no restrictions, period
cyberpunk0··on How to crawl a quarter billion webpages in 40 hours (2012)
Why does everything have to have a "value proposition". Quite narrow minded.
cyberpunk0··on Tech Giants Take Their Talent Hunt to Cambridge, UK
Because when tech companies come to places in the us they become gentrified and everything becomes expensive. In most cases tech companies coming to an area has a devastating effect as people who had lived in an area forever are forced out due to the insane spike in cost of living.

cyberpunk0··on Show HN: Gurn – Use words, not bookmarks

cyberpunk0··on Show HN: The Program – A fictional podcast inspired by Hacker News stories
Not really interesting to me. Most of the stuff here is self promotion, pretentious opinion pieces, and blind praise for finance industry. I stay for the few diamond in the rough articles about tech industry and idk how youd make good fictional storoes from that haha
cyberpunk0··on Recreating Python's Slice Syntax in JavaScript Using ES6 Proxies
Why do so many JavaScript devs use 2 spaces for tabs? Its terrible for quickly reading through code
cyberpunk0··on Marketing Firm Exactis Leaked a Personal Info Database with 340M Records
The issue isn't complicated at all. Regardless of any country's laws. Don't use my personal information for anything other than verifying my identity or record keeping. Don't give it to anyone, don't sell it to anyone, don't use it for marketing bullshit, dont analyze it to find out how to sell me things, or how to trap me in targetted advertising (which I block anyway because you have no right to spam me with them or waste my bandwidth) or filter bubbles. If you can't do that when fuck off, there's no reason I should do business with you.
cyberpunk0··on Squeezed: Why Our Families Can’t Afford America
Death of the American dream was a decent doc about this subject. All of this has been engineered into place over a long period of time.
