i too used to be very interested in contributing to Haiku OS but due to their backwards stance on LLMs i lost all interest and moved on. sorry you had to find out the hard way but the maintainers are very stubborn and strongly married to their ideological stance against LLMs. it wouldn’t surprise me if this ideological split led to a fork of the project eventually. you definitely aren’t the first to be disappointed by their behaviour and you wont be the last. they’d rather stay stuck in the past than push the project forward. they have a history of rejecting fully working drivers over this ideology.
positive thinking isn’t going to help you out of illness, poverty, disability or disease. for everything else sure but this is not a panacea and reeks of victim blaming if not properly disclaimed
can’t wait for people to complain about how much water or energy bringing manufacturing back to america uses. oh wait, they won’t, cause it’s not AI. people didn’t care about data centres before AI. this is an ideological issue wrapped up with a bow on it by environmental issues. that’s not to say america is absolutely handling it’s energy transition terribly, it is
not with that attitude there won’t! straight into investments, don’t touch for a few decades and she’ll be right. then again most people desperate for money don’t think like that unfortunately
this is gonna have chilling effects on free speech in america. people are gonna be thinking twice about criticising authorities after a pattern of this happening on a national level is established
people don’t care if it’s good. they only care it’s made with AI so they can signal their moral superiority. hence the derogatory term slop that is paraded around like it’s the way to win an argument
yea, i’d say this is rather ridiculous. it places an undue financial burden on someone to uproot their life after they’ve already made community connections just to stay permanently. this seems very much obviously designed to discourage and halt immigration by making it more painful
this guy doesn’t do optics. you don’t say shit like that even if it’s what you believe. most people can’t handle that level of detachment from human labour. it’s too impersonal. viewed as cruel even. even if he’s that detached he has to maintain a level of innocence to keep his workers compliant
precisely! he’s only sorry you know how he thinks. the reality is he means it and would take every opportunity he can to squeeze and optimise away human labour for his own benefit
the contradiction of championing bodily autonomy in only one area but not all has always bothered me. you either support it or you don’t. we still have work to do on shifting the overton window
false. this is parasitic kind of thinking. you’re absolutely willing to benefit from people who operate like this but will take the first opportunity to call it problematic. tell me it’s defective to burst into tears when someone is bleeding out on the operating table. if a surgeon did this they’d be shaking, an absolute mess and would nick an artery. your logic does not hold up. it is an evolutionary advantage that enables people to make tough decisions under pressure
sounds like capitalism doing what capitalism does best and backfiring spectacularly. over optimising for efficiency and degrading the customer experience as a result
seeing it as a personality disorder is part of the problem. it is a social advantage and a form of neurodivergence. just as many autistic people lament being called defective or disordered many of these people feel it is a super power just like autism. you wouldn’t call your ER doctor disordered while they calmly repair you while you’re bleeding out and yet that is where people with these traits cluster because the job demands it
because they’re naturally predispositioned to move and climb faster without the affective emotional response. they’re more effective and efficient and are unbothered by the emotions of others in their pursuit of their goals thus giving them an advantage. it will always be this way
