Aren't these the same people who say things like

> the difference between a billion dollars and a million dollars is a billion dollars

Mobility is bad unless it's literally from zero to billion?

There's basically only one way to solve that problem. Are we surprised every time 2+2 is 4?

cuteboy19··on Consumers defrauded on Zelle are left high and dry by the banks that created it [pdf]
I agree that at some point people need to take some responsibility for being scammed. However, it seems that Zelle is engineered in the perfect way to help scammers.

It is as though a committee of engineers and consultants sat together and said "How do we create the perfect vehicle for as many different types of scams as possible?"

  - Maybe! instant settlement
  - No standardized audit trail
  - No way to know who's really on the other side
  - Send money into the void
  - 2FA but not really
cuteboy19··on Consumers defrauded on Zelle are left high and dry by the banks that created it [pdf]
The solution for this is instant SMS narratives. If you do any kind of transaction, whether receiving or sending, you will get an SMS detailing the (completed) transaction.

Over time people will be conditioned to wait for the SMS before finishing any transaction

That is how UPI does it anyways

cuteboy19··on That’s What I Call Ponzinomics
Can you please cite me a single specific case where it has mattered that it was DRS'ed?

It is unfortunate that you lost money chasing after a short squeeze but no amount of conspiracism is going to bring your money back.

cuteboy19··on Consumers defrauded on Zelle are left high and dry by the banks that created it [pdf]
What do the scams actually look like?
cuteboy19··on That’s What I Call Ponzinomics
I don't see how that is relevant. Is there any case where this has actually mattered?

Direct ownership of stocks is costly, slow and generally confers zero benefits.

Some random stock cults stumbled on it, and are now using it as a cult affirmation ritual, kind of like baptism. But it doesn't do anything

cuteboy19··on California caste bill could have global ripples
I doubt that. The Indian constitution has far stronger anti-caste discrimination provisions than Cali. The BJP has never tried to remove those, so why would they want to do anything here?
cuteboy19··on North Korean science fiction
That is not categorically true. There is a great diversity of superhero origins. Some are allegories for minorities (X Men), some are not secretive at all and a regular part of society, sometimes it turns out that the organisation is not to our benefit, sometimes they are just plain evil. Still others are secretive but not organized

cuteboy19··on Conferences are inadvertently excluding many attendees from foreign countries
People have used the same justification for invasion since the time of the Roman republic. Let us not take justifications for imperialism at face value
cuteboy19··on US must land astronauts on the Moon again
It might be true but I doubt a sanctioned nation will be able to continue a largely unproductive enterprise at this scale. They have definitely been punching above their weight so far though, unfortunately it will probably fizzle out soon

It's a problem when America invades Cuba but not when Cuba invades Angola?

They actually did modelling of this during the trial. It was found that removing legacy and affirmative action causes negligible change in the white population.

cuteboy19··on Can the stock market go to zero?
The concept of limited liability limits this negative scenario. And my limit buy for the entire US stock market @5cents keeps it from going to exact zero
cuteboy19··on Was FTX a Ponzi scheme from the beginning?
Pseudonymity is not transparency. Transparency in theory is not transparency in practice.
cuteboy19··on Was FTX a Ponzi scheme from the beginning?
It almost doesn't matter, for example the safemoon team's scams are documented on the Blockchain but the investors don't care. We can't underestimate the financial cultism of crypto people

cuteboy19··on Why the Champions of Affirmative Action Had to Leave Asian Americans Behind
With the SAT, there is nothing that intentionally restricts other people from performing equally well. It is an objective measure in that we know how it is calculated for every single student. We can audit the scores

With the "personality score" we have proof that the score was intentionally created to lower the chances of Asians getting through. Moreover there is no way to audit the scores of a particular student. They do not explain how a score is calculated. Moreover, Harvard alumni scored Asians on par with their other peers, meaning that the metric was created almost certainly to discriminate

cuteboy19··on Why the Champions of Affirmative Action Had to Leave Asian Americans Behind
Ironically the only people who disagree are 1. Harvard and 2. Sonya Sotomayor

Both of whom support AA

cuteboy19··on Why the Champions of Affirmative Action Had to Leave Asian Americans Behind
>What if a college instituted a test that has a high chance of weeding out people of a certain race incidentally

Like the "personality score" which somehow curiously scored Asians lower, without even talking to them in person ?

Don't you worry, the universities will make sure that their decisions are so opaque that they won't ever be caught red handed again

cuteboy19··on Why the Champions of Affirmative Action Had to Leave Asian Americans Behind
Affirmative action helped affluent blacks and Latinos. If you were poor then it very likely did not affect you either way. Your chances were zero and are zero

There is no point in trying to guilt trip liberals here. That energy is better spent elsewhere
