cuctas··on I developed a fast algorithm for raytracing bokeh
The way this works is by taking each sample and bidirectionally re-distributing its energy over the image plane. The result is smooth bokeh, even at low AA samples.

It is also able to do full lens simulation using a state-of-the art (polynomial optics) approach. Ever wanted to render through an 1900’s Petzval lens? Or the legendary Cooke Speed Panchro? Here ye go.

cuctas··on Lentil – Lenses for pathtracers
Lentil is an advanced camera toolkit for the Arnold renderer. It is a set of shaders that extends creative control and physical correctness, while significantly reducing the time (~30x) needed to render bokeh through bidirectional sampling of camera rays.
cuctas··on Multi-dimensional Newton-Raphson extension with global convergence
No implementation of the paper was online so far, so here we go
