ctdeneen··on Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died
I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my reply which was short and poorly written considering how it has a very powerful phrase. I'm not implying your post was racist but was responding to the quote you provided:

We may not agree but I will always listen to you. I will always consider your opinion with respect and will endeavor to understand your reasoning. My views are not set - my goal is to listen to arguments to come to an informed position, I can honestly take forward

I was trying to explain that because the internet has increased the visibility of ones opinions to a global scale, and a recent increase in the use of both public shaming as well as punitive financial measures (fired from job, boycott) it could be dangerous to opine about anything.

Maybe any major change to a system, for example turning on an seller's account that was banned, should require a small explanation that is reviewed by additional employees.

For example 1,user x disables account, fraudulent health products

2,user y enables account, ????

Seems like many major changes almost never require a user to justify them with a written explanation.

ctdeneen··on We need physical audio kill switches
Are you saying the switch is broken? Those can be replaced in about 15 mins and cost very little. The wires in wall rarely break and if do that could be a very dangerous situation.

But with the internet much more of what you do is visible and more people know about it. What you said could be attacked with "white silence is violence"
ctdeneen··on How can we, as web professionals, help to make the web more energy efficient?
I believe the issue with diesel is NO2, basically it may emit less but it's worse for us

Nvidia's NVENC doesn't support CRF, one of the more popular methods of rate control during encoding.

But for most situation you encode once and play multiple times. Wouldn't it be better to reduce storage and bandwidth costs with a smaller file (assuming the same quality)?
