cskau··on Humanoid robots can’t outsource their brains to the cloud due to network latency
> Think about it, have YOU ever seen it? We've all seen videos, but no real life robots in the uncanny valley.

Isn't that kinda like saying:

Think about it, have YOU ever seen atomic bombs? We've all seen videos, but no real life atomic bombs. They're not real!

cskau··on Show HN: Jukedeck – create unique, royalty-free music for your videos using A.I.
Why not go full infinite monkey and do:

  cat /dev/random > /dev/eth0
Now you've simultaneously copyright infringed all the worlds works by sharing them on the internet, AND generated all other works, making it impossible for anyone else to ever not infringe on your work.

Isn't the world a wonderfully messy place?

cskau··on The FBI files on D. B. Cooper
Since I had no idea:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._B._Cooper

  D. B. Cooper is a media epithet popularly used to refer to an unidentified man who hijacked a Boeing 727 aircraft in the airspace between Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, on November 24, 1971, extorted $200,000 in ransom (equivalent to $1,170,000 in 2015), and parachuted to an uncertain fate.
Despite an extensive manhunt and an ongoing FBI investigation, the perpetrator has never been located or positively identified.
The case remains the only unsolved air piracy in American aviation history.
cskau··on ‘Rewilding’ process could soon return wolves to Scotland
Wolves also returned (naturally I believe) to Denmark last year: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/denmark/112...
cskau··on Ask HN: Why don't transistors in microchips fail?
Boats specifically because there's a higher turnaround time to replace failing hardware?
cskau··on Apple Music and Labels Investigated in Two States
You're arguing that this isn't important simply because there are other important issues out there.

Surely two important issues can co-exist?

cskau··on Open-source ambient physical display that visualizes weather conditions
> Add sunlight and clouds and you could end up with something fairly artistic.

It does do clouds and sunlight: https://youtu.be/Euw6ebwXlMI?t=39s

The whole point is exactly that it "mimics the outside weather".

cskau··on CNNIC's response to Google
Quite the contrast to Google's response:

We applaud CNNIC on their proactive steps, and welcome them to reapply once suitable technical and procedural controls are in place.
cskau··on Can education change Japan's 'depressed' generation?
There are several good documentaries out there on the subject. I can't name any of the ones I've seen off the top of my head, but I'm sure googleing will yield plenty.

Quite a lot of young Japanese live at home even through their university years, and it seems the common case of hikikomori is that they just never leave.

cskau··on Microsoft hits out at Google team over bug report
Or you could ask: do two more days of the bug being secretly exploited in the wild matter?
cskau··on Motorola Moto E modifications for anti-surveillance
I believe GPS in most modern smartphones are now integrated directly in the SoC, and can't really be removed without removing the whole CPU.

cskau··on Doing Business in Japan
No.
cskau··on Doing Business in Japan
The outside world is not Japan. That is more than enough to keep most from wanting to leave.
cskau··on Japanese zoning
I'm not seeing anything in there regarding any law. My understanding of the issue is that it's simply the norm. Expectation is houses only last 30 years, so nobody spends more to make them last beyond that.
cskau··on The Market Where France’s Top Chefs Buy Their Food
Tsukiji in Tokyo is best known for its fish, but the vegetable market is quite nice too. But no, other than the tourist unfriendliness it's no secret.
cskau··on Advanced iOS virus targeting Hong Kong protestors
Still quite significant with older reports indicating more than a third of all Chinese iPhones are jailbroken:

http://technode.com/2011/05/03/around-35-percent-of-ios-devi...

If you can trojan one in three iphones that's a hell of a severe security issue.

cskau··on How to Build a Raspberry Pi Radio Transmitter
Does anybody happen to know if it's just as easy to read the pins at 91.25, 94.75, and 95.75 MHz?

Lately I've been trying to find a way to do exactly that - initially using audio in - but so far without any luck.

cskau··on 100-year-old negatives discovered in Antarctic (2013)
Aw darn, I read 'natives' at first. Photos turning out not nearly as exciting as I had expected..
cskau··on A habitable environment on Martian volcano?
Unfortunately the paper seems well hidden away behind Elsevier's paywall. But I noticed there's another 2008 paper by some of the same authors on the same topic:

cskau··on 'Dumb Starbucks' mystery: Who's behind the faux coffee front in Los Feliz?
I'm able to watch them here in Japan though. Guess they're only selectively blocking.
