Broken link.

Also it looks like the most recent offering of the class started just yesterday, in case anyone else is looking to take it.

Not sure. I think I heard it from a teacher in high school.

"The people that get Bs work for the people that get Cs, and the people that get As teach."

Or they could, you know, offer higher wages.

If you're using a browser without certificate pinning wouldn't a MITM attack suffice? E.g. sslstrip

Why does he need to be physically present to testify?

This is totally inappropriate.

At the very least, fortunately, archive.org seems to have it.

The tainted milk / baby formula incident is the one that most readily comes to my mind [0]. That and the soy sauce made from human hair.

That book looks interesting but it also seems like it is mostly anecdotal. I'd prefer something similar but with hard numbers behind it. Is my impression mistaken?

Similarly, Moby Dick has tens of pages describing the particulars of the whaling industry.

Alternatively, why has the investigation taken so long? It can't take well over a year to go through someone's emails.

Someone should host a mirror--Youtube just pulled it.

Seeing as how the person he is allegedly imitating also works in security and ostensibly would have the means to commit the hack--and who is also Spanish--this seems like a shitty thing to do.

My girlfriend gave my family presents. All presents (7+ ?) came in felt bags.

I recall that there was a plugin for SoftICE called FrogsICE, which would block programs from detecting whether SoftICE was loaded. But, FrogsICE was itself able to detect whether it was already loaded (to prevent loading multiple instances).

That's what I was thinking of.

Gary Webb was the first thing that came to my mind as well. I don't have a cite for it but my recollection is that the government worked closely with rival papers to discredit both the story and Webb personally.

I hope others listen to this. Not that I would consider dealerships ethical but there's also some ignorance / baseless group hate that could stand to be corrected in this thread.

People wouldn't have been pinging their dynos to remain awake if it didn't take so long for them to spin back up. Know of any alternative places for projects that don't use a lot of resources?

When you're feeling suicidal good luck enjoying any of those.

The server seems to keep crashing on me. Otherwise, well done.

Forgetting the predictions for a moment (I think it is unfortunate and belies the book's real value that this is what everyone is focusing on), Stand on Zanzibar is great SF novel and is still worth reading IMO.

That first contact with the ground... jesus. It was difficult for me to believe that the chick they showed at the end was the same one that took the plunge. That camera shot wouldn't have been nearly as remarkable if the chick had died.

Cool article. Enjoyed this part:

> CrimeEye Cameras I've only seen these cameras in lower Manhattan, and pretty much only around federal buildings. They appear to belong to the Department of Homeland Security, and are manufactured by a company named Total Recall Corporation. (Not even joking.)

But can he help us when we burn eggs to the bottom of the pan?
