This was hilarious. I’d be cool to have flopstarter come up with 20 projects every day. I’d go to the website every morning just for laughs. Well done.
There was a time where I’d get super hyped when reading these kinds of promises. Transparent displays, foldable screens. Truth is, we’ve been seeing working prototypes at events like CES for more than 15 years. I’ve come to realize the mechanics of these companies are similar to the car industry. New technologies are presented for the same reason car companies present strange concept cars: PR
Rather: Now would be a good time for Facebook users to resign. Zuck is doing exactly the same things when he started Facebook. It’s the users; The users that need to leave the platform. Does anyone really believe that a FB without Zuckerberg will all of a sudden be great for people? Reporters like these should inform users better about how their data is being used and how they can change things for themselves by simply leaving the platform. That’s 1. more practical and 2. the only actual solution to the problem.
I feel there's so much to gain in the advertising space. Companies want to advertise, publishers want to make money and consumers want to learn about stuff they love. I wonder if there are startups tackling this problem. If you can create something that all 3 stakeholders love, you can change the landscape.
This is usually the beginning of lots of bad things. When a company with such a monopoly starts banning competitors to promote their own products, it’s clear that their customers aren’t at the core of their engine. You should never ‘be evil’ to your own customers for short-term profit gain.
This is absolutely fascinating. It got me all excited about pen plotters and I’m thinking of ordering to hack around with it. Would love to try attaching water pencils to it for example. How about hacking 10 of these to move a long a real person’s hand so you can sign multiple pages. This one article is going to hijack so many of my upcoming weekends...
It would be super interesting to see if Dropbox and Spotify do well and set an example for profitable tech companies to go public. Companies like Twitter & Snap went public too early IMHO. It’d be a great signal to young entrepreneurs to chase a business model early on.
I wonder if having for-profit organisations/startups who's core mission it is to protect these fantastic animals would be more successful vs non-profits or government projects. Not necessary to make a buck, but in many cases, for-profit organisations get more done because of the constant pressure they feel to perform.
This. I once ran a SaaS for $7/mo. Churn rate was horrible. People never stayed longer than 3mo. Now I do something with a 4 figure / mo price tag and people stick around for 7/mo on avg. it’s totally counterintuitive
The single best advice Patio11 has given is "charge more". Seriously. It's been one of the scariest thing to do in the beginning, but I've now 4X'd my pricing (from 3 figures to 4 figures a month!) and the customers got 10X better, complain less, I work less and earn more. Please! If you read this, double your prices today. See what happens in the next 3-4 weeks.
Makes me wonder... it worked for Airbnb with selling cereal to get some funds flowing. Musk made it work with the hats and now this. Should it be a serious strategy for startups to sell funny/share worthy swag to fund their ventures?
You could completely anonymize when certain key variables are met. In your example, when the ride is successfully completed and both parties confirmed this, the data can be anonymized.
Whether it’s Uber or the NSA stories of staff spying on people for a variety of reasons... it always comes down to people who seem to have access to things that they probably shouldnt have gotten access to in the first place. Users should be protected by having their data encrypted and anonymized so no other human being (staffers, governments or hackers) can connect an ID to the data. This way they can still access the data and use it for what ever work related purpose, with less risk of these things happening
Loos like http://logodust.com is one of their side projects that sends traffic to their core http://fairpixels.pro unlimited UI design service. Love the strategy
Unfortunately, this isn't any different from what a variety of countries have been doing to muslims for the last 200 years. If your source of information is mainly the Media, I suggest you spend an afternoon browsing through Wikipedia and compare the numbers. The amount of terrorist attacks by 'so called muslims' (let's just say they are muslim for a moment) is minuscule by the amount of muslims killed by the west. Every single life matters, so let's put things in perspective. The west has occupied and terrorised muslim nations for 2 centuries, but since they control the media, they keep them in the category of 'bad guys'. This surveillance is disgusting. It's how muslims have been occupied and oppressed for 200 years. Those who oppose freedom should downvote this.
Functional prototypes of both hardware and/or software (web and/or mobile). I used to help companies like theme parks design concepts and build prototypes that they could use to get sponsors for their parks. As well as large corporations that needed wuick prototypes of apps or games that they needed to fundraise to fund the full product development process. I would basically help them up to the internal or externL fundraising pitches. Won awards for my work. Im just sick of client work and would love to find a way that I could use my skills in a more independent way.
