A person can go from zero knowledge to landing a full-time non-entry software engineering position in 3 months. Many of my friends have done it and I am in the process of doing it right now. I just started learning in December and I am in the final stages of an interview for a Software Engineer job at Big Name Tech Company that I fully expect to receive an offer for.

Coding is the easiest and highest paying profession in the world today. Everyone should do it.

If you have ever swam in a competitive setting (a swimming race), then you are aware that 45s/lap IS, in fact, a very slow pace.

Surely this comment is against HN guidelines and should be removed....

I've been to a few right wing rallies recently and every one I've gone to I was harassed, threatened, people expressed racist and nationalist sentiments towards me in a very aggressive faction. I feared for my life much of the time.

This, in my experience, is how every right wing rally is. Left wing rallies, on the other hand, have always been very pleasant and highly enjoyable.

People should make an effort to understand that this is an excuse he came up with after realizing what a bad idea this was, not a real, legitimate reason for doing something.

This is a person who gets paid enormous amounts of money to just do whatever he wants and talk about what he thinks. Is it that far-fetched that someone with so much money and so much free time and free will would get bored and watch poor people dance and embarrass themselves for his amusement?

Note, this is not meant to be an attack on PewDiePie's character (his actions speak toward his character just fine). This comment is mostly about providing insight into why a person might do something like this for no real reason and genuinely see nothing wrong with it.

Wow! That seems like a pretty slow swimming pace to anyone who has swam in a competitive settings. It is shocking that that pace is top 0.1% of swimmers.

But your observation seems accurate, not many people swim.
