Last year my idea of smart online gift buying was to get everything from Etsy. That had limited success. There's only so many knitted dolls and vintage watches you can give.

Tapping into people who know niche stores all over the world. Very cool. I'm off to post a gift request.

I got my first proper introduction to Tesla from the Oatmeal. I'm not sure how much of it was true, but he definitely came off as a hero of technology. Time to dive a little deeper. A biography maybe. Recommendations?

Love that term, "Sneakernet". Would love to see an analysis of a modern day sneakernet. This article just seems to remind us that it is possible.

Site design is nice. Just started giving it a go. I'm hesitant to use more "social networks" in this case that term doesn't seem to be quite right. Half wiki half network.

Always wanted one of the Lego Death Stars. Not sure if this helps me find one, but interesting. http://curicon.com/items/view/17052/lego-10143-death-star-ii

Long live Hot or Not! I don't want to like this sort of site. I'm ashamed that I read the whole post (and found it interesting).

Seems like a niche product, but I reckon it's got huge potential. People are vain. This lets someone else make you feel good 24/7. I think $4.2m is going to get this into a lot of pockets.

I'll be giving this ago. Last time I set up a mail server I came pretty close to tears.
