cptwunderlich··on Portugal’s Marmelada Tastes Nothing Like Marmalade (2018)
Ironically, the historically more "Austrian" expression "Konfitüre" hast become so rare and "Marmelade" so Common, that many Austrians think the former might be the German term. So the insult is out of fashion too. Piefke would be the go-to nowadays :)

And "Marmelade" to means jam in general.

cptwunderlich··on Reinventing Firefox for Android
Last time I tried FF on Android, the Font Rendering was abysmal :( I've always been a faithful FF user on Desktop and I wish it would be a good alternative on mobile too. Let's see where this Preview goes.
cptwunderlich··on IT Runs on Java 8
Java 8? I wish! We're mostly stuck with Java 6 and 7! :(
cptwunderlich··on Smartphone Apps Are Filled With Trackers
So what? They can still track you across devices. Especially if they use some 3rd party ad SDK, which might use the Google advertising ID, or some other identifiers.
cptwunderlich··on Why should I have written ZeroMQ in C, not C++ (2012)
Well, I think most people do it by some sort of "trial and error", the tool of choise is Matt Godbolt's Compiler Explorer [1]

I sometimes listen to the CppCast Podcast and one of the Hosts, Jason Turner, likes to write code in modern C++ for some vintage computers. He tests code bits in Compiler Explorer for that. He also has a YouTube Channel where he does that [2]

cptwunderlich··on Another Week with Bad Software
Ironically, the "about" and "projects" links on his blog are broken (which I guess has been generated by a static site generator).
cptwunderlich··on Kit Programming Language
Interesting language! I saw a "throw" in an example, but I don't see exeptions mentioned anywhere? Woulb be interesting to know why a language with performance focus has exceptions (or are they implemented differently?).
cptwunderlich··on Tweeting Made Easier
How to lie with graphs. It looks like a majority of the tweets hit the limit, yet the text clearly states only 9% of English tweets hit the limit. If you'd zoom out, it simply wouldn't look like a problem (which I don't think it is).
cptwunderlich··on Comparing a web service written in Python and Go [pdf]
Look at the scales for the graphs on page 9. What a ridiculous comparison...
