coretx··on Management is forcing us to use AI
They don't get into the cockpit until they can do 100% properly.
coretx··on Ask HN: Do you regret using Social Networking apps?
The only social network I don't regret are IRC channels but that's mostly dead these days and it is rapidly being outlawed.
coretx··on Stardust Store – An independent Android app marketplace
You could let real people curate & attest their apps in exchange for free updates. If done in a clever manner, this would keep the bots & astroturfers out of your system.
coretx··on Ask HN: 30, burnt out, with 6-10 months of runway. What would you do?
Talk to a medical professional and be careful with taking advice from randoms online. You have only one you, don't risk it.
coretx··on Wi-Fi 8 is the first wireless upgrade in years that isn't chasing speed
Most don't want you to setup your own APN ;-)
coretx··on Google has abandoned Google News?
"Fair Use" as a fundamental only exists in the US. It was not the butler but IPR and advertisement jihadis who did it.
coretx··on Twenty-five years ago it was cryptography, today it's model weights
Many people use those to hide their ESP32-LORA devices. Far better range compared to wifi ;-) It works but you'll still need to swap the 18650's every now and then. More of a concern is the privatization of free spectrum. If everyone becomes a radio-refugee, there will be nothing but noise & pirates.
coretx··on Twenty-five years ago it was cryptography, today it's model weights
https://tinygrad.org is probably the best punk in this regard. Moving LLM's out of your drug dealers datacenter and into your utility closet.

Such as bypassing parliament -the people responsible for managing your rights-. And subverting democracy and the rule of law too, by punishing you or otherwise manipulate you into desired behavior without going to court. Code is Law. DRM is violence.
coretx··on Better to Beg Forgiveness
The "You don't own it if you can't destroy it" discussion goes all the way back to people like Cicero and limitations on what you can and can not do with your slaves. What you desire is sensible and can only be achieved by political means; yet it is undermined already. Licenses are granted, not given. They remain the property of whoever issued it. Here fore, among other things, a discussion about property rights retains the frame used by those who abuse immaterial property rights. This is problematic because it's near impossible to achieve a political goal without setting the right language first.
coretx··on Read this before you buy that TV streaming stick
The most relevant difference between using a TV and a "TV streaming stick" is corpos & the State controling the malware/surveillance device.

Being a ordinary person, I do not want criminals or the ( ads/data ) industry or the state to be in control of my property.

Also, any DRM not passed by a parliament undermines the rule of law & statehood. This is something Krebs and his Praetorian guard buddies must know.

coretx··on Who's afraid of Chinese models?
The best model is the model that runs best on your hardware.
coretx··on Digital Sovereignty Becomes an Imperative as the US Reads Dutch Emails
Not the US but the Dutch state is the problem here. The powers that be know that US espionage is not only limited to some emails and also entails sophisticated industrial espionage and never cared. Now "suddenly" they want to do something about it. This is Not about Dutch interests / sovereignty - we need to find out what it really is about.
coretx··on Show HN: TunnelMind – reputation API for IPs, ASNs, and ad-tech supply chains
Reputation is subjective and subject to abuse. You need cold hard facts. Intelligence. Also, don't talk BGP to people you don't know and don't forget to maintain your human network. Your regional RIR can help with this.
coretx··on Ask HN: What is the long term purpose of Google releasing free offline models?
Speculation: It helps engineer consumer agency.
coretx··on MiMo Code is now released and open-source
Reading "xiaomi"in the headline I was thrilled to see MiMo only to find out it's NOT this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIMO What a disappointment!
coretx··on Web Browsers on Video Game Consoles
It's still a wise idea to take it seriously. Many years ago, a then 17 y/o old ( German ) friend of mine did mitm on his own console in order to replace a video stream in ps home, recorded it for youtube/laughs. Not much later he was SWATed by the german police as if he was some kind of terrorist. His parents got a heart attack. Next he received financial death threats from a ultra expensive UK based law firm send by Sony.
coretx··on Surveillance is not safety: A statement on the UK's latest threat to privacy [pdf]
You don't give a stranger the keys to your house but we run their code every day. This is wrong regardless of there being surveillance present. We all know where it went wrong and can't say we did not know.
coretx··on Anthropic, please ship an official Claude Desktop for Linux
Why dont you ask Claude to write you a TUI ?
coretx··on Motorola phones have started hijacking the Amazon app to insert affiliate codes
That begs the question! Did they use a Sony rootkit ? XD
coretx··on German implementation of eIDAS will require an Apple/Google account to function
Germans are likely going to try and hang the public servants for high treason via their constitutional court.
coretx··on German implementation of eIDAS will require an Apple/Google account to function
Time for a digital Reichstag fire. When will the germans stop repeating history ?
coretx··on Cloudflare flags archive.today as "C&C/Botnet"; no longer resolves via 1.1.1.2
Cloudflare is a clandestine intelligence operation run by a rogue nation. Just like spamhaus and many other firms that have ridiculous amounts of illegitimate and unchecked power.
coretx··on Project Nomad – Knowledge That Never Goes Offline
Whats not in there ? Why ? Are the LLM's cencored ?
coretx··on Microsoft's 'unhackable' Xbox One has been hacked by 'Bliss'
Can someone answer yes/no to the question ; is this the cheap steam box now ?
coretx··on Use protocols, not services
XMPP was the first creep towards the bullshit of today. Unlike IRC, it makes you register, leak identifiers, centralise and transfer power over you to third parties. Exposing you to lawfare, downtime and wasted resources. Also, IRC is extendable.
coretx··on Discord Alternatives, Ranked
Reslience
coretx··on Discord Alternatives, Ranked
It can help it setup but it should not because its better at being the place where you click on a solution for everything else you just mentioned being down. Its a cheap low noise and highly available fallback. Those "idle" channels of the past actually served a serious purpose.
coretx··on Discord Alternatives, Ranked
IRC is the only alternative that runs on random potatos and survives lawfare.
coretx··on Deutsche Telekom is throttling the internet
Nothing will come out of this unless all former state monopolists are targeted at the same time.
