On the one hand, it's scary. On the other hand, almost everyone will be in that position.

Time to crack open our dusty linear algebra textbooks.

> If genuine AGI is developed

If AGI ever comes to fruition, it won't come as a subscription plan.

One kind of intervention that could work would be licensing, like with some engineering professions. Make it illegal to work on software without a professional license; same as with doctors. Engineers would be free to work with AI, but the final responsibility would fall on them.

This artificial control works to prevent oversupply and protect salaries. Unfortunately, the businesses calling the shots won't ever allow this to happen.

> As long as people still have high paying jobs, they'll pay for well made software and tailored services.

Here's the question. Which high paying jobs will remain? People will still be needed, obviously, but salaries would be in a race to the bottom without some form of govt intervention.

You're saying no entity has industrial racks ?

Why wouldn't it be cause for joy, even elation?

I understand we have the pesky problem of work and time being interchangeable for money. But except for that, it's pretty exciting.

And don't tie yourself to a harness. Shun models that don't let you pick the harness (Google). Anthropic is indifferent at the moment because the OpenClaw craze is over. Vote with your wallet.
copperx··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
I see. One of the biggest issues I had with 5 is that it constantly made mistakes calling tools and making API calls that even lesser models didn't struggle with. Mistakes were crazy high.

I was working exclusively with DS 4.1 Flash until Opus 5.5 got me back to a sub. I was disillusioned with what was available.

> I'm not the only one

See, that's an/the issue. As soon as people start to flee to the improved model, they start to serve degraded models to keep up with the demand.

It feels like an updated 4.6. It's fantastic.
copperx··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
Opus 5.5 is so good that I don't want it to be replaced anytime soon. Stop training models, Anthropic, and just serve this thing without regressions for a year or three, can you?
copperx··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
The usage allowances are now insane, like they were when the Max plans were introduced. The $100 plan is usable again for real tasks.

> If you have a healthy lifestyle you would need to live for multiple centuries to reach 100% likelihood.

This kind of comment lowers the level of discourse dramatically.

Who?
copperx··on Claude partial outage
Exactly, 5.5 is the first model that I used that's better than 4.6.
copperx··on You are no longer invited to dinner
It's almost unbelievable that people like you exist. Attending a gathering is torture enough. Hosting one, repeatedly at that, sounds like living in the ninth circle of hell.

Thanks for your service to humanity.

Then go on the news and spread panic that the virus is going to kill us all because it's sentient and impossible to contain.

Actually, the metaphor doesn't work at all because there are innumerable ways to shut down the entire thing during all phases including the made up "killing us all" bullshit scenario whereas with a virus there aren't any once a virus escapes containment.

Yes, it looks like regressions are frequent, but sometimes performance goes back to baseline quite fast.
