Or a higher level of legislature mandates it… why does everything have to be a riot?

coob··on Yanis Varoufakis resigns despite referendum no vote
Eurozone problems, perhaps. I do not understand how you can attempt fiscal union without true political union.
coob··on Thomas Piketty: “Germany has never repaid.”
And we're treating those figures as trustworthy are we? Eurostar consistently failed to validate numbers provided by the Greek government in that period.
coob··on The Amazing Disappearing BSD License (2005)
has this ever actually happened?
coob··on Gradify turns the most prominent colors in an image into a CSS gradient
The point with this method is that the gradient acts as a fill before the image is loaded.
coob··on Duolingo Raises $45M, Now Valued at $470M
Rosetta Stone pull in that much per quarter.

And manage to run at loss, with it.

coob··on Duolingo Raises $45M, Now Valued at $470M
We[1] take a different approach to language learning by focusing on usable, real language from the get go. It's more of a phrasebook that uses games and activities to get the vocab you need into your memory than a grammar learning engine.

coob··on What's new in Xcode 7
There's new higher level stuff for downloading assets on the fly from the App Store, check out the new NSBundleResourceRequest class.
coob··on Bitcode (iOS, watchOS)
There's a good reason for that requirement. Loading 32bit apps on a 64but device requires loading all the 32bit version of shared libs, massively increasing the memory footprint.

coob··on The state of Apple Pay adoption
Tips, presumably.

I didn't consider tipping culture. A scourge.

coob··on The state of Apple Pay adoption
Apple Pay is literally a win for everyone

* Customers have an easier, securer way to pay than chip & PIN (swipe only will be phased out as it has in Europe)

* VISA/MC/AMEX get a reduction in transaction fraud due to device-linkage (combined with biometrics).

* Retailers can process transactions quicker without them costing more.

coob··on A 3D live map of the London Underground
The locations are estimates, but will be between the right stations.

coob··on How I became a drug cheat athlete to test the system
I think it's honestly getting to the point where some signed/trusted biologically embedded blood analyser/spectrometer is going to be the only thing that catches cheats.
coob··on Sepp Blatter to quit as president amid corruption scandal
Good riddance.

Hopefully the next president won't be another corrupt liar (Platini, Warner etc).

coob··on The “personal organizer” we had before the Newton
I loved my PSION, and the huge OPL[1] programming manuals that came with it. Excellent devices.

coob··on In Flight
The GPS altitude limit is 18km which is 60,000ft. Normal cruising altitude is 35,000ft.

It's also trivial to obtain unrestricted GPS devices.
