conorcleary··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2026)
Yea, I don't understand why brands tarnish themselves by allowing layoffs to bleed human resources instead of finding ways to apply the extra production capacity to something good in society
conorcleary··on Built Dental Scope
You made no point.

You continued an argument from somewhere else in a thread about a new way to use tech to visualize anatomy. You took English words you did not develop and typed them into an input device you use but did not invent.

Maybe that of the Thompson family. Or maybe the Thomson family.
conorcleary··on OpenAI Says It Will Not Release Newest A.I. Model Over Safety Concerns
"OpenAI Says It Will Not Release Oldest A.I. Model Over Similarity Concerns" Let's start the Museum & Curation process early on this stuff; these companies have investors who claim to be experts - let them see the earliest codebase and libraries to see who can actually use their hands to program, versus who outsourced their HR and just tended to their PR.

conorcleary··on SNL Weekend Update: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on A.I.'S Threat to Humanity [video]
because it's SNL, I'm obviously going to watch it. What I wanted to ask, though, first, may I see the Art critic's credentials before I consume the piece of Art being criticized? [edit]"Video unavailable The uploader has not made this video available in your country" lol I guess it ain't obvious.
conorcleary··on SNL Weekend Update: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on A.I.'S Threat to Humanity [video]
haven't watched yet, but, if this is how Art is received (in whatever form), then what is polished and presented on a platter (being turned down left, right and centre by commenters when the real audience is sitting in front of them, secondary to the camera that is worth more than their monthly paycheque or whatever other leverage the production machine behind the troupe has) needs to have a solid bleeding-edge punchline but also seasoned actors and entertainers willing to stand up to deliver it on time, (live but also not at risk of being delisted, demonetized, or put under an NDA that prevents you from speaking in any form of media unknowingly for exchange for a measly fiat currency), and then go online and search for themselves to find tips to improve for next week's show that people aren't tuning into as much live partially due to the discrepancies in the capitalistic system that's being pointed out nightly in comedy clubs around the globe, but, gotta be there to hear it & gotta be here to advance it - just not all the time, please. (reminder to myself in a way)
conorcleary··on When did Google get so weird?
an interface goes from the programmer's concept to written code, transformed into a frontend for the programmer and the rest of humanity to prompt (verb); eventually the accumulated prompts from a programmer get brute-forced into design fundamentals like evolution in nature, or the frontend is designed to go around this (apple style UX).

conorcleary··on IBM When is Watson going to regain the crown via television?
Like Skype lost to Zoom, will Siri lose to Watson by moving too early? Will DeepSeek beat Watson due to IBM's [insert MSM talking point here]? Is it even going to appear as a contender anymore or is Alladin waiting to get the Intel gov't buy-in, too?
conorcleary··on IBM When is Watson going to regain the crown via television?
The television is very powerful for propoganda, it can display stock tickers, or you can relax with an episode of Jeopardy.

conorcleary··on I'm Tired of Being on the Network
nah, periodic calorie-restriction without feeling you 'have to' feels alright when you next eat, and, you can consciously choose a healthier snack in the moment to continue the nicer feeling.

Knowing you skipped a pizza and it's still available in the freezer (plus you still don't need to buy another one to replace it, yet) after growing up feeling overweight, eventually being overweight, and feeling the same during both periods - the price is an electricity bill for the freezer, not priceless.
