Nintendo and Microsoft/Xbox have low margin on each device sold [1] [2]. For Valve, Steam is the only real source of income. Apple on the other hand has a lot of source of incomes. They have a margin of 60 percent just for the iPhone! [3]

Games. Seriously. You have a lot of old (even new) games that depend on 32-bit binaries/libraries. And that’s why the recent “clash” between Canonical’s Ubuntu and Valve’s Steam[1].

Even randomizing MAC seems somehow useless [0]. And all `private` VPNs without logs are pretty much non-free (as in money).

No need for a VPN. Maybe using HTTPS wouldn't aloud them to see the data? Hope no MITM. But, you can always change DNS server (or use DNSCrypt).
