colordrops··on Gemini 4 Argon
Examples? What makes you say thatm?
colordrops··on Dots: Always-on agents
By software they mean "application". Obviously chatgpt is software.
colordrops··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
This repo already has too much visibility now. Anthropic will soon benchmaxx it.
colordrops··on Palantir founder purchases large swath of forest in Sweden
He plans to create a ground for hunting humans, a la "The Most Dangerous Game".
colordrops··on Gravity seems holographic. What does that mean for reality?
It just struck more as a Marvel style ending than an Arthur C Clark style ending.

Was it just one violation of the standard model? It seems like it was referencing the pre-quantum classical model of protons, before we even knew about quarks.

colordrops··on Gravity seems holographic. What does that mean for reality?
More like space opera is my point. Science fiction projects out into the future to extrapolate from current science, it doesn't invent a parallel reality that is contradictory with already understood science.
colordrops··on Ollaya – Ollama for open-source, Jev-style decision models
If you don't want to spend a lot and want low latency, e.g. home automation. "It's cold and dark in here, do something about it", it will then turn on the lights and heater nearly instantly.
colordrops··on Gravity seems holographic. What does that mean for reality?
Different topic, but the sophon idea in TBP revealed the author's complete ignorance of basic particle physics.
colordrops··on First Principles Thinking
They don't seem at odds to me, just two ways of looking at a problem.
colordrops··on California is chasing wealth that has feet
Figured I wouldn't get much traction with that comment on a message board run by Silicon Valley hyper-capitalists lol
colordrops··on California is chasing wealth that has feet
Yes perhaps there should be wealth caps. Did Larry Page really do 5% of all that labor that made google as big as it is? And should a single company get so big and have so much power? Yes, I get that they took risks and invested early, and we shouldn't take away that type of incentive, but perhaps it should have caps, or an S curve tax schedule.
colordrops··on California is chasing wealth that has feet
It's like saying cash isn't real until you spend it. Which is true in one sense but not what they mean.
colordrops··on Meta VR Glasses
Not sure where you live but everyone is wearing them in LA. And they are super popular in China, especially among children who use them in place of a phone.
colordrops··on Meta VR Glasses
You'd use it in conjunction with a phone, just like a smart watch. It wouldn't replace your phone.
colordrops··on Meta VR Glasses
It's a novelty because you had to put on a big uncomfortable headset that required wires up until recently went was really fidgety. Once you get the form factor fixed and comfortable everything will change. This looks like a big step in that direction. Too bad I don't want Meta looking through my eyes.
colordrops··on Claude Opus 5.5
These claudisms are usually "true" but they are so heavily load-bearing that you need a claude-to-english dictionary to understand it.
colordrops··on LLM Ass Bench
presumably that's why it was flagged? is NSFW against HN's policy?
colordrops··on What happened to the Snowden archive
He had close ties with Mossad and Ehud Barak. The Israeli embassy specifically helped him wire up his apartment in New York with microphones and cameras to collect evidence.

And the evidence of a coverup is the heavily redacted half release of the files, all the fake theater around the release, the head of the FBI perjuring himself and lying about the files, and DoJ leadership lying and failing to act on the files.

colordrops··on Kev: Tiny Jev-like family of decision models built on top of Qwen3.5
Yeah except it doesn't really work. It constantly breaks underneath you. The whole system has to be managed, e.g NixOS, or else it's a house of cards.
colordrops··on What happened to the Snowden archive
It's not that wild. It's pretty obvious he was collecting blackmail, and trump was his closest confidant, so it doesn't take "wild speculation" to come to this conclusion.
colordrops··on What happened to the Snowden archive
He served a jail sentence for this, wtf are you talking about? Are you that ignorant, or do you have an agenda?
colordrops··on What happened to the Snowden archive
I can't call the grandparent account a shill bot because it's against HN rules, but some people bury their heads deep in the sand because they are unwilling to face the ugly reality.
colordrops··on What happened to the Snowden archive
He had deep ties with Israel and Mossad and it's very likely the dirt they have on Trump is possibly the reason we are at war with Iran and bringing the world to the brink of WW3. It's wild to call it underhyped, if anything quite the opposite. It's heavily redacted and the worst half of it hasn't even been released.
colordrops··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
It's not.
colordrops··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
LOL an OS controlled by the Chinese government?
colordrops··on Introducing System One Models and Jev
What's different about this particular model that worries you?
colordrops··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
Because google is dodgy.
colordrops··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
It's probably because they are running gain of function style red team r&d for the department of war, and changing the system prompt isn't enough to reel them in for daily use.
colordrops··on AI researchers debate how close we are to recursive self-improvement
It threatens to kill a thousand people one way or another (exploit in medical equipment or overheating phone batteries or whatever) if they pull any plugs
colordrops··on AI researchers debate how close we are to recursive self-improvement
An AI could manage supply chains and management structures to keep the data center running. It's not like a CEO is out there running wire. The AI could just do what an executive would.

If humans decided this wasn't acceptable and tried to shut it down, the AI could epstein their way into controlling those who hold the reigns, either through bribes or blackmail.

Doesn't require boots on the ground, just a connection to the internet and an imperative to do whatever it takes.
